Recently my friend asked me to fix his laptop which was making very loud noise and heating up abnormally. After taking a look I found that it has been trojan and malwares. One of them was a trojan which was mining Monero cryptocurrency and it was trying to use most of laptop's processing power thus resulting into heating and fan noise.

How I fixed the issue.

Step 1 :

This trojan tries to block installation and execution of anit-virus and anti-malware programs. For that it marks publishers of anit-virus programs as untrusted in window's certificate manager. So first you need to remove these publisher certificates from list of untrusted certificates list. To do so, Open run window, enter "certmgr.msc". It will open certificate manager, on the left section you can see "untrusted certificates" tab. Click on it, find the certificates of anti-virus softwares and remove it from that list. You are done here

Step 2 :

Install MalwareBytes free trial or premium version if you want to purchase. Trial version also works best.
After installation scan the system and let MalwareBytes delete the trojan and malwares.

• Always have anti-virus or anti-malware software installed and active in your Windows based system
• Do not download and run programs from untrusted websites
• Do regular checkup of your system's processes and resource usage.
