The Flappening - Litecoin vs. Bitcoin Cash - When Will it Happen?

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Two days ago, Charlie Lee (SatoshiLite) predicted that 'The Flappening' will happen in 2018. Basically saying that Litecoin will take over Bitcoin Cash in total marketcap.

I personally think Charlie might be right. Litecoin shows quite some innovation and recently introduced LitePay. Bitcoin Cash on the other hand seems to lose momentum. Bitcoin's transaction fees are now comparable with those of Bitcoin Cash and the mempool is empty.

Segwit and the Lightning Network adoption on Bitcoin will result in even lower fees and Roger Ver's argument about Bitcoin having insane transaction fees compared to Bitcoin Cash does not apply any longer.

Some realtime comparisons between Litecoin and Bitcoin Cash on Flappening.watch:

So what do you guys think? Will the Flappening happen? If so, when do you think it will happen?

I think Litecoin guys are doing more development that Bitcoin Cash guys so, for sure that will propel Litecoin to a higher position...

Indeed, they have a strong community!

but what will be the steem where it will reach this year sir

Nobody knows @jassi, but I think Steem will be around for a long time!

Litecoin has a hell of a lot going for it, especially considering your point on LitePay. I am a keen admirer of this coin and feel that, as mass adoption goes, this coin stands a great chance.

Looking at the offering, Litecoin should be lite-years ahead of BTC (see what I did there?)

I saw it ;-)

Litecoin... it's the 'original' Bitcoin Cash (aka: copy of Bitcoin).

I really don't know why people consider LTC to be 'good' but other altcoins bad. LTC is the first of the 'shitcoins' in my experience.. , it's the original copy

The world of crypto is really crazy and very unpredictable. I don't think we can say when the flappening will happen just that it is going to happen as predicted by Charlie.. Segwit have really brought down the price of bitcoin transaction and also made it faster, which honestly i think is a good thing.

True. I believe the more precise a positive prediction someone makes about crypto (dates, prices, marketcaps), the more the person probably has to gain with that prediction becoming true.

Yeah only if it eventually becomes true as predicted.. Charlie lee is really positive with his coin, going by his tweets to Justin Sun the founder of tron. But their predictions about the coins haven't really taken place as predicted but the fact still remains that crypto is volatile and can rise and fall at any moment

In the orbit 💫 of crypto, there's a large room for possibilities.

Now these possibilities are propelled by innovative ideas. A typical example is the introduction of LitePay by Litecoin (as seen above). This has given a bit of an edge over other coins and has definitely put them in a good place to overtake Bitcoin Cash.

Inasmuch as I don't doubt the possibility of THE FLAPPENING, I would be surprised if it happens.

Cheers @cryptotem, my Boss.

Why would you be surprised if it happens @fada.emma? What needs to happen first before this would take place do you think?

I've never seen any currency with a volatility like that of cryptos. It's hardly stable. When it's eventually stable, investors come up with new tricks to jolt the market.

Bottom line, I'm always awed by the upward/downward spiral of cryptos.

I also think that litecoin will take the place of bitcoin :)

Could happen in this crazy world of crypto!

I can see this happening. Litecoin plays nicely next to bitcoin as the silver to its gold. Bitcoin cash seems to be a a bit like marmite - it divides opinion and with fees on bitcoin dropping....

Cool. What do you see as the main event triggering the Flappening?

I personally don't see any single event rather a shift back to where we were with 1. Btc 2. Eth 3.ltc as the main cryptos for the foreseeable future. Bitcoin cash looks like more of a protest IMHO that will lose momentum over time.

Great comment. We'll see what happens :-)

Bcash is too much centralized and never have the backup of the majority!

Seems to be the case indeed. It seems like they are losing support.
