Tired of Google Dominating Search? Fret No More

Google completely dominates search. Not just on their own search engine but they also own YouTube. With Google dominating 77% of all searches, it's hard for anyone to complete. Not Baidu, Bing or Yahoo.

According to internetlivestats.com, 3.5 billion searches are being made a day and 1.2 trillion searches are made a year worldwide.

Google is massive in the space so advertisers spend thousands to show us their ads whether we are on a website or if we are searching for answers to our questions. Because of this, advertisers are able to influence our decisions to choose our content and change our perception on which content is the most trustworthy and valuable.

People who understand white hat and gray hat methods to ranking higher on the search engine also have an advantage over content creators who aren't familiar with the google algorithm.

To solve some of these problems, a couple search engines are being made to be decentralized and reward uses for their time, make the content more relevant for us and/or make impact how we learn.

1. Presearch

This project was created by the team that developed the Jaxx wallet.

Similar to most decentralized applications. Presearch wants to reward community members for using it. We frequently use google but how much better would the experience on the platform be if you were rewarded for it. Along with that, the content we see is based on what the community sees fit rather than what an algorithm deems fit. We can also have a say in what the developers are doing with the platform by funding and voting on projects.

2. Desearch

This project is by BitClave

Everything you need to know about crypto from ICO's, tokens and currencies, to founders and exchanges can be found.

It mimics googles layout but the results you get are only relevant to crypto and blockchain news, graphics and articles. Oh and NO IRRELEVANT ADS.

3. Asksteem

Built on one of our favorite blockchains, asksteem allows you to search steem users.

This search only show you content from steemit.com unlike the previous search engines shown above.
