Bitcoin Cash on Blokchain - BCH finally available to users

Blockchain wallet users will be able to access their Bitcoin Cash. On October 11th, the company announced that it gives customers access to their BCH funds. Blockchain initially informed about its support for the fork back in August. However, so far users have not yet been able to sell or transfer their Bitcoin Cash.

Hard fork of August 1st and the creation of Bitcoin Cash was for many people the first opportunity to obtain "free" altcoins created at the time of the split-up. The desire to get additional funds was also one of the driving forces behind the trend, which pushed the price of Bitcoin up before the fork.

Although more than two months have passed since that day, many people still do not have access to their BCH. They mostly held their funds on exchanges and online wallets. In theory, companies behind exchange platforms and portfolios should provide their customers with access to Bitcoin Cash in a quantity equal to the amount held at the time of BTC split-up. Most companies have stated that they will do so but they need time to develop the right solutions. Others, unfortunatrly, have taken steps on their own account.

Bitcoin Cash on Blokchain

Blockchain is one of the first major players to provide its users with access to Bitcoin Cash. According to the information available on the wallet's website:

"We’re excited to share that, as of today, any user who had a Bitcoin balance in their Blockchain wallet when the fork activated, will be able to access the same amount in BCH."

Users should be able to store, exchange and send Bitcoin Cash by clicking on the "General" tab in the wallet settings. This is another novelty for Blockchain users. Recently, the popular wallet has introduced Ethereum support.

Bitcoin entwined

In the near future, we can expect more companies to unlock Bitcoin Cash. On 7th of October, the Gemini exchange enabled its clients to preview the balance in BCH and order its withdrawal. However, transfers were to be actually carried out on 11 October. In the following days, the waiting time for the execution of the Bitcoin Cash payment order with Gemini is to be 5 days.
