How to safely apply for crypto Airdrops.steemCreated with Sketch.

As you should already know, new ICOs are created everyday and not all of them can be trusted.

And I'm sure you do your own research before investing in them. If not, you should, because I'd risk saying that most of them are scam/frauds.

But your money is not all the scammers want. They want anything they can get from you! Including your personal email address and passwords.

Every day I come across new Airdrops that promises free coins in exchange for ALMOST nothing. Some ask you to sign up with you email address, some ask you to join the Telegram group, some ask you to answer a questionnaire and almost all of them ask you to promote your personal referral link in exchange for more free coins.

For some it doesn't look suspicious but I can assure you most of them are. By giving your email address you are throwing it to the "internet wind", and receiving tons of spam messages are the least of your problems. Your email account is the center of all your accounts and if they can crack your password they'd have access to almost unlimited data about you.

And I'm hoping you don't use the same password for everything because if you do, you are just giving away your password to them.

Read my previous post and you will be amazed on how dangerous it can be.

But it's pretty easy to sign up for everything without putting yourself at risk.

Here's how I keep myself safe:

  1. Create an email address just for Airdrops and other suspicious sign ups. And please use an exclusive password for it, and a safe one because some of the Airdrops you will participate are legit.
  2. When signing up, always use a different password from your main accounts. Never use a previous password. You can use the same password for all Airdrops but you would be risking the legit ones you earned.
  3. Joining Telegram groups is pretty much safe, if you are not delusional and know that NOTHING COMES FOR FREE, not even love (except from dogs). The worst they can do is contact you and ask for deposits, PASSWORDS, and any other personal data. Just ignore anyone approaching you, specially if they look like angels who are just giving money for free. THERE'S NO SUCH THING!

Not even the legit Airdrops tokens come for free. They are meant to promote their coin/platform. It's an advertising strategy. Instead of paying for ads on Facebook, Google or Twitter, they pay us to advertise for them. It's a fair trade IMO and a great strategy since it reaches only their target. But don't be naive, there are scammers everywhere. Be smart.

Trade safe.
