CRYPTO UPDATE! Brock Pierce Removed from EOS?? Google Bans Crypto Ads & More

Good news for those of you who purchased EOS on the exchange Binance:

Even though I just made a video showing you how to register your tokens so they are usable when the EOS platform launches, if you’ve got your EOS on an account with Binance, they will be doing all that work for you.

I’ve gotta say, even though this one is centralized, at least they tend to make decisions for the benefit of their user base. For example, if you hold any NEO coins on Binance, they will give you the Gas that accrues and is rightfully yours. If you’re holding NEO on Bittrex on the other hand, that exchange is happily raking in everyone’s Gas coins and keeping those coins for themselves.
Just because Binance has a track record of doing right by their users, let’s not forget the fact that a the end of the day, as a user, you are still left hoping that they will continue to do so. I’ve started a series on decentralized exchanges. So far I’ve covered IDEX and will be covering a number of other options this week and next if you’re interested in learning more how to take control of your own coins so you don’t have to rely on the trustworthiness and honesty of centralized exchanges.

Google has decided to ban ads for cryptocurrencies in addition to ICOs

What will this mean for bloggers and youtubers who like me, dedicate their time to educating and spreading the word about this semi-underground financial freedom movement?

My friend Randy Hilarski (@hilarski), he’s a wizard with social media, brought up a great point today as well. He pointed out that even though these ads are gone, it doesn’t at all take away the legitimacy of what we’re doing here. If anything it removes the bull crap and makes more room for real people creating real content to be found by real individuals looking for real answers and information.

If you are a content creator or if you’re still worried about what this could mean for the future of this industry, fear not! Because there are plenty of other platforms that now use blockchain technology to ensure the immutability of content. Platforms like: https://steemit.com, https://d.tube, https://lbry.io, and soon to come, Civil: https://joincivil.com and I’m sure there are more that I have yet to learn about.

EOS drama with Brock Pierce:

Yes, Brock Pierce has a bit of a questionably shady past. Back in 1999 there were rumors of sexual abuse but he was never charged with a crime.

Yes, this kind of history is the sort that will continue to haunt him.
But that being said, you can’t deny the work and dedication he’s put forth for the benefit of the crypto community. He’s had numerous appearances with huge media outlets and he’s always emphasizing the bigger picture and possibilities that crypto can unleash for all of humanity.

Unfortunately for Brock, thanks to a show on Comedy Central that aired a couple days ago, his past seems to be coming back to haunt him. Thanks to the huge audience and a flurry of new google searches for Brock and his past, it looks like block.one and the team behind EOS might be turning their backs on him.
They’ve since edited all youtube videos to remove Brock from their channel and website also.

Unless we get the full story and can understand the details as to why they made this decision, we’re left wondering if block.one is more worried about appearances than defending a man who has had blockchain’s back since day one, or if they knew about his past and now that it’s public knowledge they are retracing to save face.
At this point we’re looking at a situation where one set of rumors has led to more speculation and distrust.
Keep an eye out for an explanation from block.one as to why they decided to cut him out.

Sort:

Thos this mean that if I transfer my EOS to Binance they will do what exactly ??

You are talking Apple and Oranges here. EOS is just EOS.
NEO holders get voting rights in the NEO ecosystem as well as rights to dividends in the form of GAS
If you buy NEO you get as a by product dividend GAS. (On the Binance Exchange)
You can also just buy GAS.

Your eos should be in an actual wallet and registered with block.one so you get the real EOS token once the chain launches in June.

They will register all the ETH address with EOS token in the exchange ... I imagine. But Dan told in the Telegram group that it is better to do it by your self as Heidi was saying in her last post.

That’s some cold shit! Of all the stories they could have covered during the show and they cover Brock and EOS. I didn’t even know he was associated until I saw the show. Sucks for him. EOS or BlockOne is a machine that will cut down any threats or obstacles. But, that probably increases their likelihood of success. Thanks for the update!

If anything, the google crypto ad ban will mean I'll be seeing James Altucher's goofy ad much less. So tired of that crap.

That and Miner.one -- Man, that thing was playing non-stop on YT for me.

Thanks for the Update...:)...

Looks like he is gone since lats week

Brock Pierce was an early advisor to Block.one for several months and made significant contributions to the awareness of the EOSIO project. His past experience working with projects such as Ethereum, Blockchain Capital, and as chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation have proved immensely valuable. As we mentioned last week, we recently came to a mutual agreement that Brock would end his role at Block.one as he transitions to independent community building and investment activities. We thank Brock for his contributions, support, and continued larger than life passion for the EOSIO project.

John Oliver's show is on HBO not Comedy Central, though he got his start on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart FYI.

It is strange that the public spotlight brought all of that about. I have held reservations about Brock and the scandal you are talking about. As well as his ties to the Clinton Foundation. You are right though, he has worked hard for the cryptocurrency community.

I prefer to align to the developer Dan Larimer and his alignment in the Ron Paul campaign. That's the future I want to succeed.

Thanks for the updates and all you do. You are appreciated!

Thank you for the mention Heidi. Yes, I am not worried one bit about the Google Crypto ad ban.

Fair assesment of Pierce. His past is fishy, but 99,9% of the people critizing him have no good project of their own.

But i am still amazed how much influence traditional media has

This comes after Brock Pierce was bashed by popular TV host John Oliver from Last Week Tonight in a segment about cryptocurrency.

This led to an immediate search breakout for terms like “Brock Pierce EOS” and “EOS scandal” and a price drop which quickly brought EOS down 7%. Poking fun at Pierce’s ‘unicorn wedding’ at popular festival Burning Man.This led to an immediate search breakout for terms like “Brock Pierce EOS” and “EOS scandal” and a price drop which quickly brought EOS down 7%. Yeah it was a tough call for the EOS team I am sure but I think they decided they better act fast before facing mass public backlash. Brock has done a lot for the entire crypto world but like you said he has some skeletons in his past that haunt him. Now he was not charged with anything and he was basically a kid at the time the recent environment and the pitchfork ways of social media do not play in his favor even if he is completely innocent.

I wrote a response to John Oliver here in a blog post on steemit. Would be cool if you checked it out.
