So what you are proposing is that all the new and unimportant contributors be channeled into oblivion so the upper class can be accommodated more readily. Those of you who strut about with the higher powers seem to forget that it is the masses that keep your pockets lined. I think the cleaning process should start with the manipulators of the platform. In your opinion where should the cut off point be? Should the powers at hand make it a 65? It appears to me that you have no interest in what the new people have to say. We have to wait just as long as you do. Your idea is no different than those who drive BMW saying take the chev, ford, vw off the road so us important people can not have traffic jams. The majority of the people in this world are already controlled by the elite, if it wasn't for the little guy, there would be no roads for the big guys to drive on.
I am resteeming your post so others can become more aware of this kind of thinking, to see if they have the intestinal fortitude to voice their opinions, such as you and I.

I agree with you 110%.
Followed you too, because you seem like one of a very few people who have any sense on here right about now.

Will resteem this post, too. This needs to turn into a legit debate, and be settled once and for all, (Which it won't here, I know), because if you silence the new, and the poor (whether I am classified amongst them or not), I will be powering down, and leaving. Never to come back.

Thank you for the reply and for the follow shaw1. If you checked my profile you will understand where I am coming from. This platform was not (contrary to belief) created for the benefit of its users! Those who think that are disalusioned. Steemit is a business that requires the masses to function properly. Why do you think the masses are called minnows and the masters of the minnows called whales, it's not because those terminologies are cute or sweet, it's all contrived to attract those masses. I have to admit it is a brilliant concept but so To is so called democracy and we can clearly see how that has evolved..................billytwohearts. Also followed

The minimum account balance could be something as simple as $20. That is very affordable. We need just some sort of filter for serious content creators otherwise the site cant handle the traffic it has nothing to do with social classes but website navigation and technicality.

Bull. It has everything to do with silencing new people. How much steem did you have when you wrote your very first post?

I didn't buy steem before I started writing. That is ridiculous. Invest in this, before you know if you want to.

You are centralizing and that sort of thing is what will destroy steemit.

No man you dont follow. I have been on this site since the beginning, and I love the community its a great place but at it grows some thing will have to change to handle capacity. Im not trying to kick anyone out. If you hear what I say people can still comment for free then earn steem by getting upvotes. So you wouldnt HAVE to buy into post but you would have to work. AnD NO the problem right now is that even a dolphin like me doesnt have a say in the website that is more central then anything. Im not one of the huge whales that are pulling the strings something to think about.

No, you aren't the one listening.
You want anyone below some made up limit to be relegated into listening, but not being able to speak.

Do you have any idea, little dolphin, how long it would take a brand new guy to make 20 dollars worth of steem through comments alone?

Your problem is you have lost touch.

"the problem right now is that even a dolphin like me doesnt have a say in the website"
And we thank heaven. You would take away the right for people to have a decentralized, open system. Your first thoughts aren't how to make the steemit website better, it is how to fundamentally change steem.

Twitter has about 6,000 tweets per second.
Steemit has less than 1,600 posts per day.

So don't give me that rubbish about how censorship needs to happen, and steemit just can't handle it...
Growing pains. That's all this is. And all you can think to do is destroy the fundamental idea behind the system.

In order to save steemit, we have to destroy what steemit stands for. Makes lots of sense.

Your not FOLLOWING. IF STEEM HAS AS MANY USERS AS REDDIT TOMORROW THE NEWS FEED WOULD EXPLODE WITH A POST EVERY SECOND THATS WHY THIS SITE HAS LAG THE MINIMUM ACCOUNT COULD BE $5 OF STEEM THAT WOULD NOT TAKE LONG HOMIE THANKs

Temper much?

And your logic makes no sense, whatsoever. A post every second would actually be easy to accommodate over a websocket connection.

I'm going to try again, even though it is a bit like talking to a brick wall, here.

Every single social media site in existence, basically, allows all its users to post. Why should steemit, the only one touting itself as "decentralized" put in the most strict controls over who can and cannot post?

You've gotten rid of the decentralized bit then, bud.

A feed with a post every second wouldnt be readable. If they got rid of the "new" tab then yes they dont need a minimum account balance. But if someone wanted to spam attack today they very well could something to consider.

I appreciate your reply jacobcards, but in my opinion your idea is just another way of the uppers attempting to control the masses. If you haven't already checked my profile than you may not understand my stance and beliefs in life. I ask absolutely nothing from Steemit or the governments of this world other than fairness to all . Thanks again for your reply.

This is ridiculous. I love hearing from an "elite" steemian about how minnows need to be heard less.

You are suggesting that to make steemit usable for new people, we silence new people. Are you hearing yourself?

Say it with me, dude. "Decentralized". One more time. "decentralized".

These new people are the only reason you get views. The great unwashed. The only reason your steem is worth a dime.

Growth can be painful. Most successful sites will go through it. But the sites that alienate 95% of their userbase will not be the ones that survive.

It dismays me that you have over 5 times the number of followers that I do. I truly hope there aren't that many people that want to take steemit away from the masses.

They dont need to be herd less see my comment above.

"They don't need to be heard."
Said every genocidal tyrant ever.

That's not what steemit is about.

I like your post
