The Launch of a New Revolution (Actually just the story of how i built my own app)

Ever since I got started with cryptocurrencies back in early 2017 I have been mind blown by the technological innovations in this industry.

As I started going through Reddit forums learning about all the different cryptocurrencies and investing in different coins I got curious to know how much coins I would have to accumulate to be considered a whale in the market.

This curiosity slowly got me investing in a bunch of ICO's and altcoins since I thought I might be able to make a living from investing in cryptocurrencies and one day achieve the dream of being that whale in the market and maybe buy that lambo.

(Really not that wise of an idea!)

The problem was to invest in these altcoins or ICO's I had to start making accounts on new exchanges. To add to this frustration, exchanges are usually not considered the safest place to store your cryptocurrencies, so I had to start making different wallets for different coins.

After a few months, this just piled up, I had at least 30 different cryptocurrency wallets and accounts in over 8 different exchanges. Being a daily trader, I also had no clue if my orders were ever executed on the exchanges until I spent a minute trying to login with 2fa. If the order had been executed, I would have to go back and manually adjust this trade on the tracking platforms i was using. This was basically becoming a pain in the ass.

At this point of time my friend and I started working on a proof of concept for a solution to all the problems above. Fast forward 4 months later and we are proud to have our app out in both the iOS Store and Play Store.

Whalefolio is basically a solution to tracking your cryptocurrency holdings without having to manually update your holdings every time you make a trade or transaction. We currently support three methods of coin entry:

Manual Entry

For those of you who want to stick with the traditional experience of tracking your coins. What a pain in the ass.

Auto Wallet Sync
We currently support over 200 different cryptocurrency wallets, simply paste your public address and start automatically tracking your holdings.

Easy Exchange Integration
We currently support over 90 different cryptocurrency exchanges. Simply enter your API keys for automatically tracking your exchange holdings.

I know at this point of time you guys are like hell no! We are not going to give away our API keys to a third party app! Well I understand where you come from and to guarantee your safety, we have spent a lot of time making sure our app is secure and that these keys are only stored on your phone and requests are only sent from your phone to the exchange. We do not store these keys in any of our servers.

We recommend using "read-only" API keys, with trading and withdrawl functions disabled!

Once you have your portfolio set-up you can now see your real-time total portfolio value. On top of that, thanks to our special sauce algorithm, we tell you what creature in the ocean you are.
