Day 6: Journal of a crypto newbie
Just got home from work today and thought I would log my journal before venturing out into crypto land today. From what I can tell, the big news of the day is although Binance appears to be back up - the URL (binance.com) doesn't work. I can see on Twitter that several folks are pointing to a new URL us.binance.com as being the new place to access the trading platform. I need to go out and do some research, but this re-enforces what I stated in an earlier blog. Obviously, a professional outfit such as Binance wouldn't expect users to just go to another URL after (at the very least, rumors of) a hack. I'll have to go out and see if I can find any official tweets or posts from Binance stating this before I venture off... just seems very amateur.
On the market-side, seems to have been more or less a quiet day with market cap seeming to be stabilizing around 420BUSD. My coins have a had a slight bump. So I'm happy..... :)
Just some other tool related notes. At this time I have subscribed to five YouTube Channels that I have found usefule, entertaining or both. :) A quick review of each is below. Perhaps you will find them useful as well.
CryptoCoinNews: Zach is the founder of this channel and has added Max and Mark over the last few weeks. Here they release 4-5 videos every day covering general market news, ICO reviews and Altcoin reviews. Zach has a $50 BTC give away in his videos which is kinda cool - although I haven't won yet, but tomorrow is a new day. These guys are the "high volume" channel although the quality is pretty good as well. They certainly are cheerleaders for the space, but they are honest (or at least appear to be) - and try different things so you can watch them experiment if you wish and they'll keep you up-to-date (i.e. Zach has invested in Hashflare for cloud mining and let's you know how it's going from time to time). Overall, easy to listen to, keeps the pace and provides some interesting thoughts. They are active on twitter and here on SteemIt as well, so this one definitely feels like a community.
Crypto99: Danny is quickly becoming my favorite to listen to. The audio in his videos isn't as good as CCN, but the TA (Technical Analysis) is excellent, and has no issues telling it like he sees it. Not overly cheerleaderly, but does believe in crypto long term. Typically posts a video a day covering general market and various news. His analysis of news items is superb and very helpful in allowing you to formulate your own strategies.
SkrillaKing: Kris (I assume this is how you spell it since he's Swedish) provides some interesting perspectives. The flow of his videos can be slow at times, as you can tell he's more or less going straight off the top of his head and sharing his instantaneous thoughts, which in a lot of ways is good and adds to his credibility. He covers more or less the same types of topics as the others, but coming from Europe can give a slightly different perspective on things which I enjoy and think is necessary in formulating your own view in this global arena. Kris posts several video a day and does have free DASH give aways which is also pretty cool. (Never won any of these either....)
Ready Set Crypto: This is definately the Zen channel. He's even called himself the "Bob Ross of crypto" in one of his videos. Definately someone to check out when you just need to mellow out and take a holistic view of big events. The tech analysis and the deep dives on the coins or tokens he does is always top notch. From this channel was where I first learned of NEO, ICX and WTC as an example. I am heavily invested in NEO largely due to the initial information provided on this channel. Overall, excellent place to find new coins to investigate and pick up a mellow vibe. They don't publish as often as the others, but the quality is always top notch.
Trading 212: Kind of the odd ball here in that these guys cover more than just crypto. This is where I have learned all the TA tricks and general trading concepts. David always explains things so well and the tools he can teach you are extremely useful. He does also cover high-level crypto information, typically on ETH and BTC in terms of a weekly re-cap and outlook on these two coins that I find useful in setting up my expectations on the general market for the coming week that help me begin to formulate my approach for the coming week. Very useful and a must subscribe I think for any new trader.
