RE: What Were The Best Investment Assets For 2017 So Far? What Lies Ahead?

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago

Personally, I do not favor gld or slv. If you want to own gold and silver, buy gold and silver not paper proxies. As far as mining stocks, I have traded them for going on 40 years and yes, they have been tepid of late, but when they change, they will turn on a dime and take no prisoners. As you pointed out, they are extremely volatile, and not for everybody but hey, if you can deal with the cryptos, you should be able to handle the mining stocks as well.

Thanks. I normally use volatility to position sizing but stock like gdxj, the ADR could change so much as one day they dont really move and the next day, there are 10% move or something. This is the reason i like about crptos, even the volatility is high, the potential return is also high, you can get double return or more in crypto but it is so much harder in stock market given the current market level.

I agree, with that approach, it may be problematic to get correct signals. I am more of a long term positioner and do not 'trade' as much. One more thing, I would STAY away from the ADR's, South Africa is forcing miners to give away ownership, NOBODY will be investing there soon. Mining is tough without the government 'helping'.

I would buy silver and gold just incase of a financial collapse, that will be the only assets that will hold true value if shit hits the fan

Thanks and in my previous experience, probably you just want gold, i mean the actual physical gold and maybe US treasury as these are the true risk off asset. Silver is good too but part of the demand might be reduced as there is use of silver in industrial like cars and stuff like that.
