On 16th November 2017, MyBit representatives were in Hong Kong where they hosted a successful meet up. This marked the start of a worldwide tour by MyBit, spreading awareness about the project and the team could not have chosen a more appropriate city to begin this campaign.
In 2016, Hong Kong’s financial secretary, John Tsang Chun-wah, announced that the city’s #technology and innovation sector would receive a HK$17 billion boost in funding, with the machine economy and #blockchain #technology outlined in the city’s budget as key areas for investment. This was done in a bid to reinvent the city’s aging economy, ensuring its future prosperity by staking a claim to tomorrow’s world and protecting it against the death of old industries. What Hong Kong is already doing on a macro level, MyBit aims to achieve on a micro level by facilitating individual investments in the machine economy using #blockchain #technology, protecting individuals against future economic upheaval. It was therefore no surprise that many of those drawn to the MyBit gathering were already primed to receive information about the project and the crucial role that it will play as revenue generating IOT devices become ubiquitous in our daily lives.
Boots on the ground operations such as these are an essential means of ensuring the future success of MyBit. Not only do the active discussions they generate continue long after they have ended helping to spread awareness, such meet ups also inspire people to take action by investing in the platform and encouraging others to do the same.
