Bitcoin’s insane energy consumption, explained
The skyrocketing value of Bitcoin is leading to soaring energy consumption. According to one widely cited website that tracks the subject, the Bitcoin network is consuming power at an annual rate of 32TWh—about as much as Denmark. By the site's calculations, each Bitcoin transaction consumes 250kWh, enough to power homes for nine days.

Hey @penguinpablo, what do you predict would be the impact of the coming BTC futures trading on other coin's value?
Do you think it will impact the value of Steem as well?
I think it has already impacted the other coins as well. Nearly all cryptocurrencies are up since the BTC futures were announced. The price surge of Bitcoin impacted the whole crypto space.
It's hard to predict what it will do with the price once the future trading goes live next week. I think a lot is priced in already.
Thanks for aharing your opinions, it means a lot! I guess you are right about the price of the cryptos being already impacted of the futures trades, even though they not started yet. Can't wait to see what is next!
