Tatum becomes finalist as the first blockchain company to ever present at the TechCrunch Startup Battlefield

October 11th, 2021 – The blockchain development platform Tatum made it to the top five in the most prestigious startup competition in the world, facing off against top startups selected from thousands of applicants. They are the first blockchain startup to have ever been invited to participate in a year with the most competitive selection process to date.

The TechCrunch Startup Battlefield is the most prestigious and highly competitive annual showdown between 20 early-stage startups from around the world. Numerous world-famous tech startups have gotten their start at the competition, including DropBox, Yammer, Vurb, Cloudflare, GetAround, and Mint.com, and 10% of finalists have gone on to become unicorns.

Tatum has been selected for its unique technological solution that enables developers and companies to build blockchain apps without any previous blockchain experience. This represents an enormous step forward for blockchain democratization and bringing technology with the massive disruptive potential to everyone.

In the first round, CEO Jiri Kobelka presented Tatum’s blockchain development platform, announced a promising partnership with a MasterCard partner, and launched the Tatum Enterprise Training Program. A panel of five judges consisted of leading venture capital funds Reach Capital, Venrock, Precursor Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Fuel Capital. In the final round, Kobelka presented in front of the top Silicon Valley executives and investors, including Jim Lanzone (Future CEO, Yahoo; CEO, Tinder), Luciana Lixandru (Partner, Sequoia Capital), Kirsten Green (Founder & Managing Partner, Forerunner Ventures), Alexa von Tobel (Founder & Managing Partner, Inspired Capital Partners), and Sarah Tavel (General Partner, Benchmark). He explained Tatum’s mission to build a platform that enables developers and companies to change the world.

“We are overjoyed to have made it to the top five among such fantastic startups, and we are already being overwhelmed by the influx of interest in our platform. Our goal is to bring more developers to blockchain and allow them to build blockchain apps that will transform a wide range of industries, and this exposure has accelerated the process more than anything else could,” says Jiri Kobelka, CEO at Tatum.

Tatum is used by over 11,000 developers from around the world. Apps built on the platform are used by tens of millions of end-users, and process billions of dollars worth of transactions per month.
