Top 5 Cryptocurrencies Heading Into 2018 - A Non Technical Explanation
Top 5 Cryptocurrencies Heading Into 2018 (Other than Bitcoin)
#1. Ethereum
This is the obvious number one crypto to get your hands on. Investing in ETH is like investing in the internet in the early 1990s. This is going to be the most revolutionary technology of my lifetime. For those who don't know what Ethereum is, this link: https://ethereum.stackexchange.com/questions/45/how-would-i-explain-ethereum-to-a-non-technical-friend proves to be very helpful in explaining it.
#2. STEEM
Given that you are on this site, it is likely that you know what STEEM is. As of the time of me writing this post, STEEM is currently $2.41. I truly believe by the end of 2017 STEEM could near $10. The catalyst for such growth will depend upon the platform steemit.com hitting mainstream light. Steemit is revolutionary for content producers, as it pays out so much more than any other social platform such as Youtube. Once this goes mainstream, there's no turning back.
#3. Golem
Golem (GNT) is a platform that simply put, is an AirBnB for your computer. With Golem, you are renting out your computer's computing power to host a decentralized supercomputer. This platform is really cool, because now developers can create complex programs to be run on supercomputers without having to own a supercomputer themselves. This tech could pave the way for new technologies to be built. This currency can be purchased on various exchanges such as Poloniex.com
#4. Siacoin
Siacoin is a decentralized cloud storage service. This is the decentralized competitor to Amazon and Google Cloud, at a much more affordable price. With siacoin's platform, users are the ONLY people who hold the key to their data. This means the cloud host has no access to the data you store on their site. This is huge for users that don't want to risk losing their privacy and data. Siacoin is a relatively small market cap currently, and could increase to $1 by 2018.
#5. Stratis
Stratis rounds off my top 5. Stratis is a platform that "offers simple and affordable end-to-end solutions for development, testing and deployment of native C# blockchain applications on the .Net framework.". This makes deploying a blockchain based application easy. They are currently under a $1billion market cap, meaning there's only room to grow from here with the large crypto market we are watching unfold. I think Stratis has potential to grow largely in 2018 due to the popularity of blockchain apps that is beginning.
Honorary Mentions to look into:
Stellar Lumens
NXT
Augur
ZCash
These are all opinions based on my own knowledge and research. I wish you the best of success in this emerging market that is only beginning to unfold! Reach out with any questions you may have!
I seriously have a undescribed inclination towards siacoin since it has been launched!!
Thanks for mentioning it!
Seeing Ethereum as #1 makes me question your research. The only reason why it is up so much in price is because of ICOs rising Ethereum. It has scaling issues, doesn't have coin cap and if that wouldn't be enough. They are moving towards proof of stake which I personally is a mistake.
I understand your concern, but if you look at the title, this is about the top crypto choices for 2018. I believe Ethereum, as it gains more worldwide attention, will be a great investment for the upcoming year. As it overtakes Bitcoin in marketcap, and as more companies join its alliance, Ethereum will stand strong for the near future.
Great post. I was hoping to see Monero in your list.
Thanks! I'll be posting a lot more about cryptos. I don't love Monero, as I think the crypto itself is run in a corrupt manner. Would love a follow!
I'm sorry but this is a very bad list. Firstly you didn't mention any logic behind your prediction. Your reasoning was filled with empty trigger words. Telling me I should invest because it is "emerging" is not a good enough reason. Steemit is over hyped and Siacoin has stiff competition. For your prediction to be correct they'd have to gain BILLIONS more form investors. They simply have way too much in circulation. Many other currencies with much higher potential. You're saying that these will be bigger NEO which is greatly under priced right now or Tenx which is going to be the Visa of cryptos. Many more...
