If the wallet supports HD addresses t
you only need the original backup. Even on non-HD (Gridcoin) the backup comes with 100 spare hidden keys, so while it's wise to backup after new address generation you have a buffer of 100 new addresses before your wallet is no longer current.
Note that due to change addresses, sending coins creates a new address and this activity should be considered in your backup routine.
