THE BIGGEST PRODUCERS RECORD DECLINES IN SMARTPHONE SALES, XIAOMI COUNTS THE INCREASE BY ... ALMOST 100%

Xiaomi goes like a storm. This is the next quarter when the company is recording a huge increase in sales. Thanks to this, it has been permanently located in the top 5 largest smartphone manufacturers in the world. Interestingly, in the fourth quarter of 2017 alone is the only reason for joy (and which ones!), Because the remaining four have to accept larger or smaller decreases compared to the same period a year earlier.

Similarly as in the fourth quarter of 2016, the leader was Apple, which sold 77.3 million iPhones . Interestingly, although it is by 1.3% less than in the previous year, the Cupertino concern managed to increase revenues from this title by 7.2 billion dollars (mainly due to the increase in the average sale price to $ 796, which is great thanks to the large popularity of the iPhone X ).

The second in the sequence is Samsung, which in the fourth quarter of 2017 sold from 74.1 to 74.4 million smartphones (the first number from IDC, the second from Strategy Analytics), which means a decrease of about 5%. Officially published by the Koreans financial results for the period from October to December 2017 confirm that they did not go well during these three months, because revenues of the mobile department decreased by 3.2% compared to Q4 2016.

Huawei ranked third with 41 million smartphones sold . This is clearly less than in the case of Apple and Samsung. On the other hand, this producer also saw a decrease in comparison to the same period a year earlier - by about 10%. That's a lot, but oppo, which is in the fifth position, managed even worse . This company sold 27.4 million devices from October to December , which is less by 13.2% than in Q4 2017. Interestingly, Strategy Analytics is of a different opinion - according to its calculations, Oppo in the fourth quarter of 2017 delivered 29.5 million smartphones, which gives it a fourth place in the ranking .

As there is a small confusion here, it has to be said straight: according to IDC Xiaomi, in the last three months of 2017, it sold 28.1 million smartphones , an increase of almost 100% year on year and gives it a fourth place in TOP 5 of the largest manufacturers on world. In turn, only 27.8 million devices were added to the Strategy Analytics , which is why the company is ranked fifth.

By the way, it is worth adding that IDC was tempted to sum up the entire 2017. According to estimates, Samsung is the leader all the time (317.3 million smartphones) . Apple came in second with 21.8 million iPhones. The third place went to Huawei, which delivered 153,1 million devices to the market. Oppo occupies the fourth position with a result of 111.8 million items. The last, fifth place is occupied by Xiaomi. It is true that the Chinese have again failed to exceed the threshold of 100 million, but 92.4 million are also impressive. Especially, that the year-on-year increase amounted to 74.5%!
