1. Tor - While Tor may have some negative connotations with it, its very easy to use and keeps your browsing anonymous. While most of us know we can use Tor on our computers what a lot of people don't know its there is a version of Tor available for mobiles (at least on the android app store).
   The app is called Orbot. It's incredibility easy to use. Just download and turn on. It will even allow you to choose which apps you want to be routed through the Tor network! I find this extremely handy.

2. OrFox - To piggy back the first step, I wanted to cover to cover OrFox. Since most of use mobile phones for a lot of our daily internet use, it good practice to keep your online footprint light on all devices. OrFox is a Tor based browser similar to the Onion Browser for computers. It's free and uses an open source version of FireFox.

3. Point to Point Encryption(P2PE) - This is wider topic but its important to secure your online privacy in an age when every tech company wants your data and meta data to sell. P2PE is simply saying that the data you transmit to your friend is encrypted and unreadable by a 3rd party from your device all the way to your friends device. If you want privacy from your email provider, cell provider, etc. you will want to use P2PE.
   A quick search for this will net you some texting apps that use P2PE and for Email I recommend using Proton Mail. Caveat to all of this P2PE is only as good as the distant end, so if you're setup and your friend isn't then you aren't fully protected.

4. Search Engines - Quite simply search engines farm data and use it for advertising, sell it to 3rd parties, behavioral tracking, AI development, etc. So a very simple and easy way to take back some control is to change your default search engine to something other than Google or Bing, a good one to use is Duck Duck Go.

5. Passwords - Ultimately you are probably your own weakest link. We are human and unless we are gifted, we are probably not going to remember a dozen or more complex passwords. So what do we do? We resort to using the same passwords over and over! If we do create a complex password we'll screw it up, go through a password reset and make it easier. Damn! My free solution for this is to use a password manager like LastPass, I prefer this service because its free, integrated into android, and has a great 2FA app, which will bring us to our next point.

6. Two Factor Authentication(2FA) - This is a double edge sword in many ways but the most common problem people face when using 2FA is the mobile device being used is lost, stolen or broken. If you use Google Authentication which is one of the most popular apps for 2FA then any account setup for 2FA will be locked and you will have to recover it or submit help desk tickets with the website to prove you actually own the account. This happened to me with one of my crypto exchange account as I was using Google Authenticator, I still don't have access... Bad bad bad.
   Just take the time to change over your 2FA to using one that backs up and encrypts your 2FA account. For this I use the LastPass Authentication because it seamlessly integrates into my LastPass password management and allows you to receive push notifications to approve logins on some services.

7. Crypto Storage - This will be a brief point as it's stressed enough almost everywhere within the cryptosphere. Get a hardware wallet like a Ledger or Trezor. I literally just watched my friend lose ~$4,000 USD worth of crypto because it kept it on an exchange without having 2FA. If you're not actively move your crypto, park it.
