Crypto Currency Crashing?!!!

I've been told that the crypto currency market is fickle thing but over the last few days it seems to have gone mad.

Dips 'n' spikes are nothing new to currency exchanges and when it comes to new currency it's expected. However there is always a reason why and unfortunately I haven't been around long enough or invested enough to know.

So does anyone know what has happened the last few days and if this is truly the end of crypto currency as we know it!!! No but seriously it can be very overwhelming for a new trader to see his investment plummeted and not know why so hopefully this thread will have some answers down below!
