Samsung ASIC Mining w/ Halong Mining Dragonmint T1 16 th/s Bitcoin BTC Miner Initial Review & Setup
Halong Mining Dragonmint T1 16 th/s Bitcoin BTC Miner
When people in the mining community think of ASIC mining, especially those designed to mine Bitcoin, they generally think of the company Bitmain. Bitmain has monopolized the Bitcoin mining community with the Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) miners they produce for sale (and many speculate use to mine for themselves before selling them) and not many other options exist in the marketplace. Or, at least they didn’t prior to Halong Mining coming on to the scene.
Halong Mining has debuted their company marketing “the world’s most efficient Bitcoin miner, running cooler and faster than any competing miners.” Here is how their Dragonmint T1 stacks up compared to the Bitmain s9 (14TH version):
Estimations below based off of Coinwarz Bitcoin Mining Profit Calculator
Bitmain s9:
Halong DragonMint T1:
As you can see, the DragonMint T1 yields a 16.6% higher return than the s9 (both numbers calculated using 10 cent electricity and 0% pool fees). Above are just estimations and in our experience we see higher average returns than what profit calculators typically show. Based off specifications of the T1 vs S9 it is easy to see which will perform better.
Another big step on the path to being a true leader in the ASIC crypto mining industry for Halong Mining is their new partnership with Samsung. One of the bigger news stories in the last week was that the tech giant was gearing up to get into the ASIC mining game however it was unknown how and to what degree they would be involved. Well it turns out that their entry into the space is to produce ASIC chips for Halong Miner, specifically their DragonMint T1 miner, as can be confirmed by this tweet sent out on the 10th of April (which also confirms 10nm):
Ultimately this is a very interesting development, within a few days Halong Mining goes from a company many crypto enthusiasts thought to possibly be a scam (ourselves included) to one of the leaders in ASIC miner production. Halong Minings partnership with Samsung and the leadership provided by a ex-Bitmain developer has their operation quickly gaining a lot of traction and respect.

This is good news. But the performance benefits are not that huge in regards to $/day. I hope Halong can keep going and make these more easily accessible to general crypto enthusiasts and to the average Joe who wants to get into mining with 1 miner to start with. To make this more appealing in comparison to Bitmain (as they have a strong sales n support network advantage) Halong needs to lower the price of the T1. Selling it at lower price than Bitmain’s will definitely help and boost trust in them by the Crypto community cause Halong launches with an intention to distrupt Bitmains monopoly and no better way to achieve that other than selling a better miner at a lower price than your competitor.
How has this gone so far... I remember seeing the news, and now was looking to try https://elevategroup.io/pricing/
I think this hardware, would run for a long time.
Would love to hear more about it.

At the moment it seems that AvalonMiner 841 is actually the most power efficienct choice, when you look at actual power consumption numbers. Have thought of buying a A841 from Blokforge? It's really nice and robust piece of gear. Anyways, I hope that -ck and Halong team gets better firmware version released and that it would improve the power efficiency. Canaan and Halong really are the best bets against Bitmain monopoly position at the moment.
