The Spanish Telecommunications Company collaborates with IBM to manage international calls using BlockCain
IBM and Spanish telecommunications company Telefonica have entered into a partnership to implement the Blocchin technology to manage international telephone traffic, according to a press release that was shared with QuinteLife on November 14.
Telefonica is the seventh largest telecommunications company in the world by market value, worth $ 51 billion, according to Forbes. The company operates telecommunications in 17 countries, with 343 million customers.
The collaboration with IBM aims to simplify some of Telefonica's business processes and address various challenges in this area, including the reliability and transparency of information recorded from different networks when forwarding international calls.
Specifically, Telefonica plans to use IBM's Blockkin platform to track the assertion and traceability of each international call and related data, such as origin, destination, and duration.
In addition, the platform will be implemented in building a network of peers consisting of operators, service providers, vendors and third parties. According to the statement, access to the platform will be available to all participants in the series.
The project will also assist Telefonica in identifying fraudulent activity as well as addressing issues such as the resolution of business disputes or losses resulting from unearned revenue or information discrepancies.
