Blockchain -Trasactions per second

in #crytocurrency6 years ago

Bitcoin:

14/12/2017 => 490.544 Tx/day. These are about 5,67 Tx/sec

Ethereum:

4/1/2018 => 1.349.890 Tx/day. These are about 15,62 Tx/sec

“The block gas limit [of Ethereum] is 7,999,992 . Transaction costs 21,000 gas (let's assume nothing else is attached). That's around 380 transactions per block. With a block time of around 15.03 seconds, as ETH Stats shows, this gives us approximately: 25.346 tx/s.”

Bitcoin Cash:

Bitcoin Cash is a fork of the Bitcoin which set its block size to 8 MB. This allows the Coin to process much more transactions and therefore lower its transaction fees.

Block Time: 10 Minutes = 600 seconds
Block Size: 8 MB = 8388608 Bytes

8388608 Bytes / 600 s = 13981.01 Bytes/s

Average transaction size: 226 Bytes

226 bytes/tx / 13981.01 Bytes/s = 61.862 tx/s

Conclusion Bitcoin Cash can handle up to 61 transactions per second (on average).

Bitcoin Lightning:

Each lightning channel can handle 500 transactions per second. Bitcoin Lightning Network had a monthly growth rate of about 15%. The number of nodes increased from 1,500 to 3,000, and the number of channels increased from 4,000 to 11,000...

Channel (Lightning channel[1], payment channel[4]) a communication channel that allows two parties to make many secure payments between each other in exchange for making only a few transactions on the blockchain.

So 11.000 * 500 = 5.500.000 Tx/sec (wowwww !!!)

It is one of the first implementations of a multi-party Smart Contract (programmable money) using bitcoin's built-in scripting. The Lightning Network is leading technological development in multiparty financial computations with bitcoin.

A post on Reddit showed how efficient the Lightning Network is when implemented on the blockchain. User Legitinternetguy said:

“ I’ve made 42 transactions on Lightning Network, and it has cost me 600 sat (channel open) and about 120 sat in routing fees. total of 720 sat, or 4.9 cents. Virtually no other alt-coin can compete with these costs.”

Centralized blockchains - Visa:

Permissioned ledger projects initiated by large-scale technology and financial institutions — such as Intel and JPMorgan — have demonstrated a massive transaction capacity of over 100,000 transactions per second

However, both Sawtooth Lake Blockchain of Intel and JPMorgan’s Quorum are enterprise-focused blockchain networks that maximize transaction capacity within a closed ecosystem.

Red Belly with the University of Sydney successfully conducted a pilot test on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) global cloud infrastructure, processing more than 40,000 transactions per second.

The 40,000 tx/second capacity of the Red Belly Blockchain surpassed the transaction capacity of the Visa network, which is estimated to be 24,000 tx/second.

Here I throw the stone ... here begins your contribution.
