That was really great advice about listbuilding @blainjones, the "why" is really very important to know, it's where we start, the goal of even having a list to begin with, and we should also strive to create a list that we would sign up to ourselves if someone else had made them, and thanking our subscribers for signing up takes very little effort but the return on that is very big, they feel that we care about them, it's awesome.
