it always impresses us to see such an old structure endure through the centuries, @slowwalker, especially a wooden building.
All of man's culture and history are testimony to our desire for permanence which we can never achieve.
There's a sadness about that building - the lack of paint suggests that it has long since weathered away.
We treasure things that endure because we long for stability, but as the poet, Louis Mac Neice wrote, we are ghosts that cannot catch hold of things
