Introducing the First ArtSearch Curators | 01

in #culture7 years ago (edited)

Today we are introducing the first 4 of our newly appointed ArtSearch Curators: @falseyedols, @zailecita, @lymepoet, and @balabastic!

We put out a call to artists of all disciplines, working in all languages, to join @TheNewAlchemists curation community.

We will continue to invite rolling applications to be part of the ArtSearch Curator Community, so find us in Discord if you want to know more! As a refresher, here's what our Curators will be doing!

Art Curator Duties & Gig Details

(1) They will select 1 (or more) art categories to curate regularly
(2) Every 1-2 weeks depending on agreed upon schedule, they will select 7-10 artists to feature in a post, to be published on @TheNewAlchemist steemit account.
(3) Curators will receive a 50/50 payout split on each post authored.
(4) Although we'll share a common format, we encourage curators to creatively promote their own work, and to write creatively in their own style and language. We hope you will get to know and enjoy the individual perspective of each unique artist we work with!

We've had some incredible people apply to curate, so without further ado, let us introduce 4 of our newly appointed Curators! We'll be rolling out introductions in batches so if your name isn't listed yet, it will be soon!

Introducing @Falseyedols: an audio visual artist, educator, father, and wannabe radio host advocating for human potential and decentralization.

@Falseyedols is an incredible musician and community-builder who blew us away with his application to be a curator:

We are all apart of the human experience, and I see art and culture being instrumental (see what I did there?!) in telling the human narrative. Where we’ve come from, and where we’re going. The mistakes we’ve made, and the gains we’ve achieved. All of these life lessons can (and should) be taught through our art and culture. There is nothing more human than creating art in my eyes, and we should embrace this capacity more.

Anyone can create, and should! Not only is it therapeutic, but is also a universal form of communication. Even if in another language, art transcends typical forms of communication. You can get a lot out of anyone’s art regardless of where they’re from. Art and culture not only highlight our individuality, but also bring us together as a collective. The human collective.

Introducing @Zailecita: "La fotografía me lleva a integrarme desde una perspectiva única con mi entorno, plasmando a través del lente, aquello trascendente para mi".

@Zailecita is an incredible photographer and creative from Venezuela who creates beautiful art with deep symbolism and ties to nature and the human body. We were honored to read her curator application!

ENGLISH translation: Currently we have become desensitized s to everything that surrounds us--human beings numbed by the rhythms of life they lead, absorbed in a routine system where they forget themselves. I have a motto "art as a tool of transformation". I think faithfully that art sensitizes us, connects us with another sense of life, makes us more human and if that reached many more people, the world would definitely be a better place. Every new space that arises where art is present is invaluable. It is so important that art lives in communities--and steemit is where a large community of artists from different parts of the world can grow with a common goal.

Introducing @Lymepoet: a ghost writer, author, poet, painter and Lyme disease advocate (a-zlyme.com).

@Lymepoet is an incredible artist working at the intersection of advocacy and creativity. Her incredible story, wonderful writing, and professionalism are just a few of the reasons we're so excited to have her join our community after reading her application post.

As an expression of the human thoughts, art needs no words. It’s the universal language that speaks to one’s soul, touching his conscience and his heart. In any society, art and culture should be considered valuable as they are enriching our emotional world, they are life-enhancing, entertaining, defining of our personal and national identities. The power of art consists in crossing borders and imagine the un-imagined, transforming it into a piece of reality which can have educational, social and economical benefits.

As a curator I can actively scout for new quality content, promote good art, up vote and engage with other users by leaving meaningful comments on the Steemit platform or providing feedback on the TNA discord channel. By providing exposure and encouragement to new artists, we can help the community grow.

Introducing @Balabastic: a smart, savvy creative and artist curating an amazing new blog well worth following.

@Balabastic impressed with his sharp application and then a review of his personal work and overall taste-level left us wanting more. Read some of his lovely intro post below:

I think culture can't play any role because it's already part of our everyday life. A trash bin you see on the road is our culture, a car that brings it to the dump is our culture, a driver that smokes Marlboro through the window and listens to Kanye West is our culture.

With art is a bit tricky. I think it has to be accessible by any means but not pleasing someone's expectations. It would be great if it makes us think or feel or feel and think and of course to ask questions. The questions about you, about me, about your neighbour, about Trump, about history, about whatever could be critically re-interpreted.

While that is all of the introductions for today, it is not nearly the end of our list of amazing curators stepping up to the plate. We've been lucky to get some awesome people on board early and are looking forward to you meeting them soon!
