Curie Weekly Update (16th July to 23rd July 2017)

in #curation7 years ago (edited)

  • In spirit of Curie's transparency, we wish to use this weekly section as an ongoing development blog on our project to communicate our progress on top of the many casual exchanges happening in channel #curie.
  • For those new to Curie, please follow @curie, and join us in #curie on Steemit.chat.
  • Follow @curie's votes to support the authors. Please consider following our trail and voting for curated authors. If you are a -
  • Streemian user, @curie is an available trail to follow.
  • Remember to follow and interact with authors that you love going through The Daily Curie.

News and announcements

  • Priority: We are going to suspend public submissions for new curators soon due to high volumes of subpar quality submissions. Please check out #curie on https://steemit.chat for more information.

  • There were 300+ active curators last week - an all time high. However, the submissions were subpar and very few of the submissions made by the newly registered curators were approved. Again, submit only posts that are exceptional and meet all the guidelines (check out https://steemit.chat/channel/curie). We urge all new curators to check out the type of posts resteemed by @curie.

  • There's a new tiered system for weekly submission limits. As always, curators will receive submission limits according to their performance the previous week. Now, there will be four tiers.

CS =>5, AR >85% - Unlimited submissions
CS =>2 to <5 - 10 submissions
CS =>1 to <2 and new curators - 1-2 submissions
CS <1 - 0 submissions

Weekly Statistics

Over the last week, Project Curie curated a total of 159 posts at an average of 23 posts per day. This is 50% increase from last week, likely indicative of a growing quality in curation and content.

Authors

The top authors recommended by our curators this week are:-

@adventurecole
@apprentice001
@ateazi
@conexus
@jo3potato
@jonrhythmic
@linebacker
@offbeatbroad
@raikuhen

Once again, a completely fresh list of promising authors, with no repeats from previous weeks!

Curators

The Top Curators list will dynamically change every other week depending on performance. Anybody will be able to rise up the ranks with consistent, quality curation. Inconsistent, low-quality curation will result in dropping out of Top curators list(or regular curation, if under-performance continues).

This week, we have upvoted 159 posts submitted by curators in http://curiesteem.com, with 1,590 STEEM to be paid out to curators.

Nice, I guess the all time high of 300+ can be credited to @jerrybanfield!!

Thank you for the shout out here and hopefully a few of the reviewers will continuing making valuable contributions on an ongoing basis!

Ahhhh I'm out of the race , CS 0 eventhough my first post was approved.
Sad to see this any chance of getting a reset in the future?
Maybe 20SBD = one reset? << Idea.

Btw Its sad to see what curie seriosly votes on, look up their recently approved posts.
The whiteboard post should not be there , I don't see much effort in it and other post have way more effort in them than a guy drawing doodles on a whiteboard...

Your CS shouldn't be 0 if a post was approved.

As for a reset, I wouldn't count on it. Curie is closing down public submissions and has been in downscaling mode for the last few months. Personally, I feel Curie has accomplished everything it set out to a year ago, and much, much more. I don't think there's a pressing need for Curie any more.

About doodles and such, those can be a lot of fun, unique and creative, and often far more engaging than a wall of text. Also, perhaps you should try doodling, it's a real skill to produce a quality doodle. There are also times when persistent authors are voted on for a body of undiscovered work, in addition to the post itself. Finally, effort doesn't matter one bit, what matters is the final product. Bob Dylan may have come up with a masterpiece of a song within 5 minutes, doesn't make it worse than something a mediocre musician who has been labouring for months on one. Similarly, I see a bunch of people here ranting for thousands of words in what amounts to basically drivel. It may have taken them several hours to come up with it, but no one's going to read it. This is a free market for popular content, not a job where people are paid by the hour.

You can look through the type of posts resteemed by Curie, it is always engaging content. If you don't agree with this type of curation, I'd encourage you to start your own curation guild which focuses on whatever you would like to see voted on.

I'm also curious what will happen now, if we even will have a chance one day to submit a post again.

I submitted one post that was approved and my second submission was disapproved, which in my opinion was also a good and undervalued one (but never mind that)

Because of that I dropped now to 0.25 CS which means = no more submissions

I'm sad and sorry but still want to thank you for my first approval - it felt like I did something big for @abbijulie and I'm also happy that at least her post was approved!

Keep up the good work @curie
Thanks for your review @jerrybanfield
and also thanks to every other curator who helps to find undervalued content!

Have a nice evening.

Greetings from
Djangos story @juicypop

Man i'm new to this..can you please explain this to me.. if you have 0.25 CS and 50 AR what does means? it means you won't be able to submit forever or you won'b be able to make proposal for a week?

Sorry I'm new to this as well and don't know if I ever be able to submit again.

I'd never say never, but I doubt Curie has any plans to scale up, at least in this model. Like I mentioned elsewhere, Curie has done an immense amount to kickstart a curation community, and personally I don't see any pressing need for Curie anymore.

I appreciate the work.

Excited to see the all time high after making a tutorial about @curie a few days ago at https://steemit.com/curation/@jerrybanfield/earn-steem-for-finding-an-undervalued-steemit-post-and-submitting-to-curie-1500598670-0433114 where it seems many just went straight to submitting without reading the full tutorial explaining the requirements! Hopefully some of the new reviewers will continue to make quality submissions going forward!

Thanks for the awesome tutorial, @jerrybanfield. I’ve been approved by Curie once and am hoping to duplicate the feat with my latest short story post!

greaaat feed like always .. i will be happyto share with steemians the best 6 steps to invest in cryptocurrencies https://steemit.com/cryptocurrencies/@upbuzz/the-most-successful-6-steps-to-invest-in-digital-currencies

I am glad to see my name on the list and i am happy i could help one of my friends and his excellent blog. If i will see great content again for sure i will submitted!

Buena informacion

Great Project thank you so much for supporting us

Thank you very much for recommending my profile, I really appreciate it! :)

Am I still considered a new curator since I only joined 3 days ago & 1 post was approved and 1 not approved? Or am I no longer allowed to propose posts due to the new changes & my score of 0.25? Thanks.

Yes, a minimum CS of 1 is required.
