Curating with ease: @ehiboss Nigerian community curation report 2

Quick catch up

The curating dream for Nigerians was started by @donkeypong, with @infovore and @hanshotfirst also on board. Curators were chosen randomly among the Nigerian community, among which I was privileged to be chosen.
We were given an initial delegation of 30,000 SP to begin with, this was forwarded to a central account.

Later on, we were given a major curation boost of additional SP which was then delegated among the individual curators and the central account. So far, we have curated so many posts while being unbiased and totally disciplined in our selection

Conditions for post selection

Below is a quick and summarized version of what it takes to have a post curated:

  • Post must be found in the #nigeria tag.

  • Post must not be guilty of plagiarism.

  • Post must not posses either @cheetah's or @steemcleaner's comment.

  • Post must show creativity.

  • Downloaded or borrowed pieces must be properly referenced.

  • Post must be less than 24 hours old.

  • An author can only be curated by the team once in 24 hours.

Curation process

By definiton, it is the step by step process of how to approve a post before voting. Please note that the amount of votes an author receives from a particular curator is subject to how impressed a curator is by the author's work.

Posts are searched for using the #nigeria tag and all posts must be read by individual curators, referenced for acts of plagiarism using some methods which won't be mentioned, finally posts which have fulfilled all the criteria for selection are sent to the bigwaves group for further review and scrutiny by the curating for possible errors and after which they are voted upon.

Authors found guilty of plagiarism and some other detrimental offences are warned to cease and desist and are closely watched for repetitiveness of similar actions. Those who continue to plagiarize after continuous warnings will be reported to @steemcleaners for further actions.
Fortunately, we have not seen the need for such.

The love just got bigger with project africa united

#africa tag was created to further promote African content. The project by some noteable steemians like @dragonslayer109, @gavvet etc is designed to help curate African posts by African authors and Nigeria just happens to be in Africa.
Two groups were created on steemit chat for it. One group(africa posts) for post promotion for African authors, while the other (africa united) for chat.

The groups are closed groups, meaning that they require approval from an administrator of the group to enter. The good news is If you are an African and you are on steemit.chat and you are yet to be added, please signify in the comment section of this post or simply message either of @ehiboss, @dragonslayer109 or @gavvet on steemit.chat and kindly request to be added.

Taking the love for steemians even further

Not so long ago, @ogoowinner wrote a post about setting up "guiders" for the newbies and shortly after, we spoke and decided to start a side project to introduce new people to steemit while also grooming them properly on the dos and dont's of steemit.

This was about 48 hours ago and we have close to 40 new members willing to join steemit, with more on the way.
Below is the proof:

The aim is to push steemit as far as possible and to help ensure the success of the Steemit In Nigeria event in November.

very awesome post

This is awesome project! I can only say welldone and more grease to your elbow..pls i desire to be added to the African based groups you mentioned in the article.

God bless you and your team immensely...i am @eurogee

More grease to your elbows sir! .... i dey your back 💪👍

Thank you, that means a lot to me

Wonderful progress so far. Just getting started!

Thank you Sir for the opportunity to serve others, I promise to work harder

Good process, but i have seen good posts from Nigerians where none of the delegated power team visited over 24hrs, is that an oversight or there is any other criteria involved?

Probably they were guilty of plagiarism. A good article does not translate to being original. However the matter will be looked into to establish absolute certainty on the circumstances sorrounding those posts missing the 24 hour window...

Excellent bro, sorry for the tone in my comments please.

I already explained to you in the other post, its not a hard and fast rule, posts are screened for plagiarism, quality of post and use of the tag, not to mention we cant be everywhere at once. If you feel a post is not being attended to, send the link to anyone of us on steemchat

No worries mate, the explanation rings deep!

Nice idea. Hope to benefit.

This is a fantastic initiative - I will be interested to hear about the results:)

With lots of guidance, the results will be amazing

This is a good news and a means of helping good writers. Thanks for this great project!

All I can say about the idea is that its great and thanks to all the brains behind this.
