Steemit Update [ April 22nd, 2022 ] : Community Curators for May - Applications Open
We hope you all enjoyed another month of the Community Curators.
They have been doing a great job expanding the curation reach of the @steemcurator accounts.
Now it is time to prepare for the new month of May.
We are again inviting applications from teams who would like to take on the role of Community Curators.
Current and past teams are welcome to apply again, as are new teams who have not yet had a go as Community Curators.
The Community Curator Teams for May
We are looking for the Curator Accounts to be managed by teams of up to 7 people.
Within each team we would like to see a diversity of nationality and language.
The themes for the teams for May are…
Arts - art, crafts, photography, music, poetry, creative writing…
Finance & Technology - finance, business, crypto, science, technology, computing…
Lifestyle - health, fitness, sport, leisure, food, travel…
My Life - the Diary Game, My Town in Ten Pics, acts of kindness, charity…
Steem Growth - Steem promotion, marketing, development, contests…

For May we are expanding the Community Curators with one more team.
That team will be for a new ‘Learn with Steem’ theme.
We picked up this idea from the current Steem Growth team, and we believe it is an area that can be expanded to attract new people to Steem.
Steem is an ideal platform for teaching as has been shown with the Crypto Academy.
We would like to expand this learning idea to cover a much wider range of subjects from cooking to car maintenance, from gardening to guitar playing, from painting to programming, as well as traditional subjects such as chemistry, geography and mathematics as well as languages.
It would be great to have Steem deliver high quality courses and tutorials to bring new people to the platform.
We know there are a number of teachers, trainers, professors and education professionals on Steemit so it would be good to see a Curation Team come together from these that would be able to identify the best Learn with Steem posts and help build this area.

Curation teams can be made of people that are already involved in running existing communities, as well as people who are not.
Teams should not include more than one Country Representative from the same country. They should also not include more than one person from the management team (Founder, Admin, Moderator) of any single community.
Every member of a Curation Team must be committed to at least #club5050, and ideally #club75 or #club100. Preference will be given to teams with most members doing #club75 or #club100.
How to Apply as a Curation Team
Prospective Curation Teams should appoint a Team Leader who should make a post including…
Which of the six themes above they would like to curate for.
Details of the team members (nationality, languages, Steem history, #club status).
Why they would make a good curation team.
Anything special about how they will do their curation to ensure the widest reach.
How they will ensure they will not vote for any posts with plagiarised content.
Keep posts brief and easy to follow. Include the tag #curatorteamapplication in the first four tags.
Applications can be made in any language.
Posts should be submitted by 11.59pm UTC, on Thursday, April 28th, 2022.
How will Curation Teams be rewarded
Every day the teams will be allowed to allocate one full vote to a member’s post - ideally in rotation.
In total therefore no more than 10% of the account’s voting power should be used on team members each week.
Additionally each week one member should post a report for the team in the Steem POD community with a list of their top 7 posts, with a brief note of why each post was chosen.
These posts should set beneficiaries to share the rewards with other members of the team.
The posts will be voted by @steemcurator01.
And finally…
While these are guidelines, rather than hard rules, we are hoping the Curation Teams will favor posts that are #steemexclusive and following at least #club5050.
Plagiarism of any kind will of course not be tolerated.
The plan is to rotate the Curation Teams every month. Although some teams who are performing particularly well may be invited to continue the following month.
To give more impact to the Community Curator program, the Steem Power on the @steemcurator accounts has been increased from 250,000 SP to 500,000 SP.

We hope many other people will also be inspired to join teams to apply for this great opportunity to help grow the platform.
The winning Curation Teams will be announced by the end of the month, with a view to starting at the beginning of May.
The Steemit Team
It's a great pleasure to learn about the opening of applications for community curators for May and it's quite awesome to see the expansion of the themes to accommodate the Learn with Steem category. Firstly, many authors create tutorial articles from time to time and I guess at a point some don't know what category they should go for, Finance and Technology (because their articles are in some cases related to technology) or utilizing the #learnwithsteem tag (whose team also handle other tags).
The addition of the new category would create a wider canopy for content creators to share quality tutorials on their choice of the subject without contemplating too much about the suitability of their articles under the theme. This is a great addition and I sincerely appreciate @steemitblog for such creativity and their quest to make curation circulate to every nook and cranny of Steem.
That said, we are glad that we have been involved as curators before and our team would definitely keep on with quality curation in the subsequent periods. We will definitely drop an application again and hopefully, we continue with a good job. Thanks to the @steemitblog for the update, it's a juicy one 😊. Cheers!
There will be overlap of tags with this.
We prefer for posts NOT to receive votes from more than one Community Curation account, so if a Community Curation sc0x account has already voted on a post, then other Community Curation accounts should not vote on the same post.
I agree with this. This would serve as a perfect solution to such occurrences. There are times a curator would find the same article under its tag that has been curated with another curation account, as such it triggers questions like, would I still upvote this? In the long run, a resolution is reached to leave such content in the hands of the first curators.
I believe this new addition would eliminate every occurrence of such collisions. It's a master solution from the Steemitblog. Maybe most of the curators that have encountered this might have thought of raising the issue one day but we are glad the relentless effort of the Steemit team detected it and has proffered a worthy solution. Hopefully this also applies to the @booming curation account to avoid double upvotes, so that more users will have the opportunity to get curated.
I agree with you friend @sofia88 I have seen how publications have received up to three votes from Booming and curator accounts

That's how it has to be sir @steemcurator01 we understand that they are quality publications with good content, but if you already have a vote from a community account and we also find more quality publications, the reasonable thing is to support those other publications and not the one that has received a vote
I agree with you sir, it is not good to double vote an account while there are other quality post in the community, the more I read all this update, the more I appreciate steemit team
Me da mucho gusto que se quiera ampliar el tema de "Aprende con Steem" siempre me pregunté donde podria colocar mis post de aprendizaje 😄😄 ya que me gusta escribir de los temas de salud que aprendo en la universidad. Seria interesante implementar un sistema de conferencia recompensas con tareas pequeñas en los comentarios o quizá al hacer publicaciones nuevas como la CriptoAcademia, de esa forma motivará a los usuarios a leer, entender y participar de los temas de las conferencias.
Eso si que estaria interesante.. estare a la espectativa de aprender con steem.

Hello. I commented about this topic in the past as well and now that you have talked specifically regarding this, I'll let this oppurtunity to discuss it once again.
Few months back, I started with my Prosthodontics posts which basically talked about different cases that I observed on daily basis in my hospital. These cases included replacing the whole denture, fixing multiple teeth, trauma cases and much more. I feel like I have a good grip over topics when it comes to posting on steemit and teaching the users here something useful. If anyone's here reading my comment, do know that with the #learnwithsteem category, I'll once again be starting my dental classes and this time it will be even better. Although I have trying to buy a GoPro camera, which assists you in making videos when both of your hands are occupied, but it's very expensive and it's not possible at the moment.
I'm here asking the team, to let me know will these courses be included in learnwitgsteem as well, as they are quite professional and I personally believe topics like these which related to healthcare, could be very beneficial for users here as it could enlighten them and save them from extra expenses.

Yes, That's true, providing a tutorial with a studied course with a lot experience and expertise. I recently started one which I have treated 4 topics so far. The main thing is teaching courses passionately. I feel good when my readers are learning and are satisfied.
So now my tutorial on chemistry will have a specific tag and a specific curation team too. I am glad to see this new developments.
