I think everyone should visit memorials like this to be reminded of what people are capable of. Going to Sachsenhausen camp had a big impression on me. The UK and US tend not to have the same sort of memorials as they were not invaded. We can see some of the same sorts of things happening now as before the last war.
It does make you think. I just read (the curse of the manic researcher) that the place was founded by a friend of my grandfather who served as a church minister right after the was. So now I have finally begun to read the two books my grandfather wrote about him :)
And, yes, I agree. Too many things happening today reminds me of what happened back then.
