ICO is the down fall of cryptocurrency
I don't think I will have to introduce what is cryptocurrency, because I want to assume my readers are already familiar with this concept. Despite my assumptions I find it needful to state clearly that ICO's means INITIAL COIN OFFERINGS.
What Is ICO's
Ico's is an unregulated means by which funds are raised for a new cryptocurrency venture. An Initial Coin Offering (ICO) is used by startups to bypass the rigorous and regulated capital-raising process required by venture capitalists or banks. In an ICO campaign, a percentage of the cryptocurrency is sold to early backers of the project in exchange for legal tender or other cryptocurrencies, but usually for Bitcoin.
Early investors in the operation are usually motivated to buy the cryptocoins in the hope that the project becomes successful after it launches which could translate to a higher boldcryptocoin value than what they purchased it for before the project was boldinitiated.
The Heart Of The Matter
If you have been following the crypto market you would have observed the rapid fall in crypto price in recent weeks. Despite the fact that it's widely accepted that the crypto market is a volatile community the recent fall in price is historic in the sense that the recent pace at which the fall in price was observed is the first of its kind in the crypto community.
Different analysis has been made by experts to detect the reason for the fall, but many has come to the conclusion that the market is unpredictable. A closer observation which I made and datas I was able to gather from my research shows that after every big Ico's such as civic, status, polybius, etc the crypto market experience a fall in price.
This fall in crypto price is no coincidence considering that recently ICO's are been observed more than ever. The drop in price is due to the fact that after the conclusion of Ico's the owners of the projects in a bid to convert most of the coins gather to fiat currencies in other to further the development of the proposed projects; releases large sums of this coins gathered during Ico's into the exchange market which inevitably increase supply and with lesser demand results in inflation of price.
Why I Think Ico's Will be less Lucrative Now
The early Ico's was a huge success, to name a few, Ethereum, Wave, Dash, Zcash among others. Those who invested during this Ico's reaped a great return on their investment.
It's also important to note that this projects were unique in the sense that they offered something different from what was already in existence in the crypto world as at that time. Most Ico funded projects today is just a replica of a project we already have with an ambition to be better than its predecessors. There are hundreds of coins which features are no different from the features of Bitcoin, Ethereum or any of the early altcoins. For example will have Litcoin as an alternative to Bitcoin but there are so many Ico's coming up with the same sole purpose, same can also be said regarding the other coins. So we end up having a repeated replica of what we already have which creates diversions in the market and value depreciation.
One other factor I have observed in recent projects is the high rate of supplies of the coins they offer which makes a surge in price of the said coin to a Bitcoin, Ethereum, Zcash or Dash level very unlikely. Considering the supplies of the aforementioned coins are well below 100,000 million but current Ico's offers coins which maximum supplies are in Billions. To keep it simple Bitcoin will not be worth over $2000 today if it's maximum supply was over 1 Billion.
This is not a conclusion that there are no longer any new innovations, but the reality is only 1 in every 20 or more Ico's is a completely new project with no potential to succeed. So you will have to make sure a proper background check is made before you venture into any Ico so you won't end up getting pumped and dumped.

In my opinion the entire ICO game is vile. I only trust the OG coins.
