A handful of vomit and other stories

in #daddyblog7 years ago (edited)

It's been an interesting day that started far earlier than I would have liked with my 22 month old daughter crying because she wanted to come into our bed instead of staying in her little baby-prison (a.k.a. cot). The trouble with having a young child in your bed is that you never really sleep soundly because sub-conciously you're always worried they're going to fall off the bed. They don't because they're normally getting far better sleep than you are.

Then I was woken at I-don't-know-what-time by my other daughter who had decided to epically fill her nappy and wanted the world to know that she had no desire to sit in what looked like an entire week's worth of excrement in one smelly load. How can one toddler's digestive process product that much output?!?

Seriously, if there was a market for poop, our toddler would make us rich because her output clearly appears to exceed her input. So much for the law of conservation of energy because there's one system that is clearly breaking the input/output rule.

Fast forward to lunch time and happy-little-toddler-girl had just finished her sandwich. She was getting upset because there appeared to be a bit of bread stuck to the roof of her mouth so I trotted over to help her, just in time to catch the cascade of vomit that was clearly an entire plate of badly-chewed sandwiches.

Mmmmm, the smell of vomit really does make me want to join the party and start throwing up too.

Thankfully I didn't.

So... finally I got to sit in the office and get some work done... all the while plagued by the suspicion that in spite of repeated hand washing, I could still smell a slight odour of kiddy-chunder from my left hand.

It's awesome being a parent. :)
