The Daily Bread 0024: Serving God Properly

in #dailyword7 years ago

1st Chronicles 28
9 And you, Solomon, my son, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind; For Jehovah searches the hearts of all, and understands every attempt of the thoughts. If you seek him, you will find him; But if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.

Commentary

We have recently been talking about supreme praise and the fact that God deserves it. A praise that is half-hearted or not from the heart is obviously known by God. Jesus said of the scribes and Pharisees Matthew 15: 8 This people honors me with lips; But, his heart is away from me. This indicates that Jesus knew the hearts and the content of them. Will it serve to pretend to serve God? Will he be rewarded by him who gives service only by mouth to God? Praise, service, and surrender to God is done from the heart, if it does not proceed from there it is in vain. The Bible tells us Romans 10: 9 that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. That is to say that believing with the heart is what produces salvation, saying it merely by lips does not achieve any objective. Now praising God with only lip service is the same as serving Him without really wanting to do it, that is, serving God out of obligation or feeling responsibility to a leader or pastor.

David tells his son to "acknowledge the God of your father and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing heart" to recognize God, to give him his due is the first step to do the others properly. This is why Jesus said that the scribes and Pharisees honored him with their lips because they did not recognize that he was the Son of God. Not recognizing him, they did not give him the due honor, much less the praise, and obviously they did not serve him as they should serve him. There are many however that knowing who God is still does not serve him as a perfect heart, but rather as a mockery. Many seek God for their benefits but not for who He is. To seek God with a perfect heart is to seek Him without conditions, to surrender to God without reservations, without borders. This demanded David of his son, to serve the God of the earth and the sky with a sincere and honest heart.

Finally he says with a voluntary spirit, that is, God does not want to be served by obligation but voluntarily. Do you do what you do to God for responsibility and not voluntarily? A responsibility requires doing something out of obligation to someone not because it is voluntary, but because of our love for God we feel responsible for doing service for him but not as doing it because he has to account for the pastor, supervisor leader but for Own will. Solomon could do everything his father asked of him as being responsible to respond to the call of his pope, or to do it voluntarily to his God and this was what David wanted. Now, why should Solomon serve him perfectly and willingly? The answer is that God searches the hearts and understands every attempt of the thoughts, so that he will know if we do what we do by obligation, by wanting titles and benefits or by voluntary love, and if it is not out of voluntary love we have completely failed, Every work is as if we did nothing and will be seen as litter. 1 Corinthians 3: 12-
