Efforts to restore the political role of Islam, both within the framework of restoring the caliphate system and seeking its substitution, are not never existed. The Caliphate, despite its weaknesses, has an emotional bond with Muslims and provides a platform for Muslim countries to speak with one voice. Since the twenties, for a while the fall of the caliphate, the search for an alternative foothold that can unite Muslim countries and give them a strong and unified voice has prompted many conference and summit meetings, among others:

.World Muslim Congress in Makkah, 1926
.Congress of the Islamic Caliphate in Khairo, 1926
.Al-Aqsa Islamic Conference in al-Quds, 1931
.The second International Islamic Conference in Karachi, 1949
.Third International Islamic Conference in Karachi, 1951
.Islamic Summit in Makkah, 1954
.World Muslim Conference in Mogadishu, 1964
