Caporales is a folk dance from Bolivia, created and presented to the public for the first time in 1969 by the Estrada Pacheco brothers, who were inspired by the character of the Caporal de la saya. The dance has strong African roots in its style, and is typical of the area of ​​Los Yungas, in the department of La Paz.1

In June 2011, through a Supreme Decree, the Caporales together with other dances were declared Cultural and Intangible Heritage of the Plurinational State of Bolivia; According to the government entity, this measure was taken to stop the appropriation attempts by neighboring countries

The men's original clothing consisted of: whips, loose shirt, belt or belt, military cut trousers, boots and whip, while the woman wore a wide-sleeved blouse.
