Depressed - Episode 6: Music.steemCreated with Sketch.

Yeah, so much things to say about music...
Music is connected to emotions, in an incomprehensible, complex and beautiful way.
I used to sit on a sand dune, looking at the sea, listening to sad music while writing about my feelings. Music can be so therapeutic...

Eventually, I needed more. Music felt like a drug to me, every day passing, I needed more music, more ways to express the whirlwind of feelings inside my head. Now, I always have my earplugs on. Listening to different kinds of songs, according to what I feel, or what I want to feel. Without music, I feel... Empty.

In my high school, there was a music room, that's where I learned to play guitar, then piano, all by myself. It felt so good to be able to express my own feelings trough music notes, and so easy too! Felt like the notes were just coming out by themselves, according to what I had in mind...

I played Black Metal when my anger was almost unbearable (huge thanks to my drummer friend, always here to follow my riffs, even the ugliest ones), or, when I felt too sad and useless, I was tumbling into the music room, yelling at everyone to go away, locking the door and spending an hour playing melancholic chords on the piano...

Music really helped me. And it keeps helping each day. I'm pretty sure I won't be here writing all that, without the alleviation given by music.

I'll finish this post with a page from one of my notebooks, related or not, I haven't decided yet... I'll take one randomly I guess.

(P.S. It didn't end well ehem)

Wow, I made my post on the 29th but also posted today. Your and my post is about music, hehe. I envy you for being able to express yourself through music. I can play the flute and am teaching myself keyboard (had piano lessons for 1 year when I was 13) and trying to teach myself harmonica. I have a flute, but it's not the kind of flute I had learned, so I am also learning a second flute now on my own. Sadly I am not capable of making my own music yet. I can only sing along with songs I know.

I have to agree absolutely on the power of music. It can amplify what you feel, but you can also choose to change your mood.

Music is part of me, without it, I feel empty as well.

Just out of curiosity, which bands (2 or 3) when you are:

  • happy
  • sad
  • angry
  • depressed
  • exstatic

If you want I would gladly share my favorite bands for those moments as well.

Haha, what a coincidence ^^
I'm trying to create my own songs, but it's kinda hard ^^'

So, songs according to my moods... My favourite subject!
-Happy: Cage the Elephant-Punching bag, Cold Cold Cold ; Weathers - Happy pills (hehe)
-Sad: Alt-J - Arrival in Nara ; Elliot Moss - Big Bad Wolf ; Dope Lemon - Stonecutters ; Two Feet - Pink (the whole album)
-Angry: Missio - The Darker the Weather, the Better the Man, I Don't Even Care About You ; Twenty One Pilots - Message Man
-Depressed: Palaye Royale - Boom Boom Room Side A album ; Ahbi the Nomad - Letter for god, Marbled ; Chet Faker - Archangel
-Exstatic: Lomepal (all his songs); Spag Heddy - Permanent ; Otis Stacks - Little Pretty
And a lot others I forgot, the list is too long x)

And I'd love to know what you're listening too! ;)
