The importance of depression 1/?
Depression today tends to be overlooked. Many people suffer with it, especially in most teens today. It is a very serious, brain disorder, whether minor or major.
There is a lot of misconceptions about depression sufferers:
They can have other emotions, like happiness. Depression doesnt put you in an emotionless state, it is a state of low mood.
Sadness and depression are the same thing. Sadness can come and go and is set off by specific experiences, whereas depression tends to be a chronic struggle, there is not always a reason.
Its a persons choice or fault they have depression. No one chooses to be depressed nor is it a sign of mental weakness.
Someone has to have had a bad life to have it. Even though environment or past trauma can cause depression, it is not the main reason people get it.
You have to be on anti-depressants to be better. I can tell you from experience, its not true. Some choose to go on anti-depressants, I personally think I am to young to be on them, so I'm not, but depression is something that people deal with in there own way.
These are just 5 of the misconceptions people have about depression. My depression is minor, but it is there. Most people don't understand what sufferers go through, just to get up in the morning, or even get out the house.
I wrote this piece in awareness of Me and many others who are suffering in silence. I am planning on writing more this week, please look out for them.
