DIe Kunden drohten mit Klagen, das Unternehmen versicherte ihnen, aber 90% des Verlustes zu ersetzen, die Frage ist nur wann. Aufgrund dessen, droht die japanische Finanzaufsicht nun mit hohen Strafen für die Tauschbörsen, da erhebliche Sicherheitsmängel bestehen.
Weiters sollen Plattformen die keine Lizenz haben gesperrt werden, dies diene dem Kundenschutz und soll die Geldwäsche eindämmen.

Coincheck hatte keine Lizenz, da es sie aber schon gab, bevor das Gesetz in Kraft getreten ist, durften sie den Betrieb aufrecht erhalten. Nach diesem Angriff muss das Unternehmen einen Aktionsplan präsentieren, um diese Vorfälle zu unterbinden und dass die Kunden geschützt werden.
