International Army Games 2018 - Die Olympischen Spiele des Militärs 2018 [ENG/DE]
Today the 4th International Army Games took place. From July 28th to August 11th, "the best soldiers in the world" were selected at 24 locations spread over seven countries. A total of 189 teams from 31 nations (according to http://armygames2018.mil.ru/countries_participants_en. Ruptly means 32. Wikipedia 33) of the world were involved. The program included competitions in 28 disciplines and was organized by the Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD).

Venues
As in 2017, the games were played in Russia, Azerbaijan, China, Belarus and Kazakhstan. New additions were 2018 in Armenia and Iran.

Of course, the host of the games will be Russia's previous long-time favorite, who dominated the winners' podium since the Games were founded in 2015.
The 2018 starting field was provided by 31/32/33 nations (wtf is publishing here this infos!?). Among them Azerbaijan, Angola, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Venezuela, Greece, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Israel, Iran, India, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, China, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Morocco, Mongolia, Nicaragua, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Tajikistan, Uganda, Uzbekistan and South Africa.
Teams from Pakistan, Algeria, Myanmar, Vietnam, Sudan and the Philippines participated for the first time.
Heute fanden die 4. Internationalen Armeespiele ihren Abschluss. Vom 28. Juli bis zum 11. August wurde an 24 Schauplätzen, verteilt in sieben Ländern "die besten Soldaten der Welt" ermittelt. Beteiligt waren insgesamt 189 Teams aus 31 Nationen (laut http://armygames2018.mil.ru/countries_participants_en. Ruptly schreibt 32. Wikipedia 33) der Welt. Das Programm umfasste Wettbewerbe in 28 Disziplinen und wurde vom russischen Verteidigungsministerium (MoD) organisiert.
Austragungsorte
Wie schon 2017 wurden die Spiele ausgetragen in Russland, Aserbaidschan, China, Belarus und Kasachstan. Neu hinzu kamen 2018 nun auch Austragungsorte in Armenien und dem Iran.
Teilnehmer
Als Gastgeber der Spiele nimmt natürlich der bisherige Langzeitfavorit Russland teil, welche das Siegertreppchen seit Gründung der Spiele 2015 dominierten.
Das Starterfeld 2018 wurde von (also nun "bis zu") 33 Nationen gestellt. Darunter Aserbaidschan, Angola, Armenien, Bangladesch, Belarus, Venezuela, Griechenland, Ägypten, Simbabwe, Israel, Iran, Indien, Kasachstan, Kuwait, China, Kirgisien, Laos, Marokko, Mongolei, Nicaragua, Russland, Serbien, Syrien, Tadschikistan, Uganda, Usbekistan und Südafrika.
Erstmalig nahmen auch Teams aus Pakistan, Algerien, Myanmar, Vietnam, dem Sudan und von den Philippinen teil.

Disciplines:
In addition to the probably most popular and most public discipline, the tank biathlon, was taken up in almost all kinds of fun, which has to offer the military on water, on land and in the air. Whether aerobatics with manned and unmanned aerial vehicles, sniper disciplines, correct calculation and application of artillery, laying mines or even ABC weaponry - there is something for everyone. Still of little interest: the disciplines and application of medical staff.

Disziplinen:
Neben der wohl populärsten und öffentlichkeitswirksamsten Disziplin, dem Panzerbiathlon, wurde angetreten in beinahe allen Arten der Bespaßung, welche das Militär zu Wasser, zu Lande und in der Luft zu bieten hat. Ob nun Aerobatik mit bemannten sowie unbemannten Luftfahrzeugen, Scharfschützendisziplinen, korrekte Kalkulation und Anwendung der Artillerie, Minen legen oder auch Einsätze in Bezug auf ABC-Waffen - hier ist für jeden Spaß etwas dabei. Weiterhin von nur geringem Interesse: die Disziplinen und Anwendung von medizinischem Personal.

The winner is:
The closing ceremony took place as every year in combination with the tank biathlon. This time in Alabino, about 50 kilometers southwest of Moscow.
And who would have thought it: within all 28 disciplines Russia has again won the most medals and is thus again overall winner. Second & third? Does that count in the military? Somehow I feel that there is only one position on the stage in the case of millitary competitions: for the winner.

Der Gewinner ist:
Die Abschlusszeremonie fand wie jedes Jahr in Kombination mit dem Panzerbiathlon statt. Diesmal in Alabino, rund 50 Kilometer südwestlich von Moskau.
Und wer hätte es gedacht: innerhalb aller 28 Disziplinen hat Russland erneut die meisten Medaillen abgeräumt und ist somit erneut Gesamtsieger. Zweiter & Dritter? Zählt das beim Militär? Irgendwie ist mir so, es gäbe es bei millitätrischen Wettkämpfen nur eine Position auf dem Treppchen: für den Gewinner.
