Asphalt Roads Reflect Beauty and Comfort For Road Users

Asphalt Definition

Asphalt is a mixture of bitumen and minerals. Bitumen is a material that is brown to black, hard shaped to liquid, has more adhesive properties, melts in CS2 and CCl4 and has fat properties and is not soluble in water.

Asphalt is the main material in flexible pavement construction, the highway, which acts as a mixture of aggregate binder because it has strong adhesion, water-tight and easy to work.

Type of Asphalt

Asphalt used for road materials are: natural asphalt, asphalt (bitumen) and tar. While the materials used in the form of mining products from nature such as asphalt lakes, asphalt limestone, asphalt sandstone and byproducts of the oil purification process.

Well constructed asphalt roads are not expected to be damaged quickly, although they are not difficult to make the best but in reality many of us have encountered roads that have recently been built but many have emerged hollow, even though they are certainly not expected to happen.

Should we understand together about what are the criteria of good road pavement so as not to be damaged quickly?

Here we will describe a little about the criteria of good asphalt road.

• Good asphalt road construction should start from the planning process, development to maintenance in order to create a good road and still function properly.

• The condition of the land to be built the road should be good, if too soft then it can be digging then replace it with a heap of harder land.

• The thickness of the foundation of the road, the thickness of the asphalt must be planned properly by considering the weight of the vehicle that will pass over it.

• Using good materials and used the right way.

• Water falling on the road surface should be able to get out smoothly, for it must be made a pretty good road tilt and the presence of drainage channels that can work well because we know that asphalt least resistant to rainwater puddles.

• The compaction of road materials should be done well. The turn of the road should not be too sharp because it has the potential to cause accidents that could damage the road.

• The climb and the derivative also should not be too sharp.

• The width of the road is adjusted to the density of traffic, the road is made too wide but quiet will make the rider drive the vehicle at high speed so it can be dangerous.

• There are sidewalks specially prepared for pedestrians.

• There is a green line as a place for the growth of trees to keep the air fresh and clean from the pollution of motor vehicle fumes. The road elevation is flat and not wavy.

• A road that is too straight in a long distance without a turn is also not good because it can make the driver less activity so that potentially sleepy on the road.

• There are sufficient lighting lights so it is safe to drive at night.

• The turn position or the turning area is not too far from where the driver is often the destination, as there is potential for the driver against the current to find a closer path.
