Latest Viberate platform might be major player in this space now. They already have beta version of their platform connecting many parties involved in music industry. I don't know did you heard about it, they gone use VIB tokens build on the top of Etherum platform

Nice, music is one of the great product to be build on Steem. Have u looked at other projects like Ujo, Opus, PeerTracks/Muse ?
