Living the Digital Nomad Lifestyle in the Tropical Heat of Thailand - You can do it too!

in #digital7 years ago (edited)

So as I've said in my last post, I was kind of a "Digital Nomad" for the last 2.5 years (was, I say because right now I am working in Switzerland, to give me another financial push before I leave back to Asia again).

In 2015 I decided to finally quit my job, take my ass and all my savings and a carry-on-only backpack to the airport, board a plane, to only 13 hours later step out into the tropical heat of Thailands Capital: BANGKOK.

There I was, not knowing a lot about Thailand or Asia in general, but super keen and more than excited to find out what this journey would hold for me.

Documenting my journey, mainly on my youtube channel, I made my first steps into the concrete jungle that was Bangkok.

It was overwhelming at times, but I was so fascinated - from the very beginning - with the kindness and easiness I experienced on every street corner, in every public transport, and on every street corner or restaurant.

Shortly after arriving in Bangkok, my journey continued up north to Chiang Mai. Which is now, more or less, my home far away from home.

Even though I am taking a little break from Chiang Mai right now (I'm currently working in Switzerland), I know I'll be back in 2.5 months and I'm fucking excited (yeah!)

I spent most of my time from 2015 - August 2017 somewhere in Asia, mostly Chiang Mai. Except from that time where I went to Australia for 8 months.. but that's a whole different story that needs to be covered in another post.

These almost 2 years in Asia, in the tropics, on the beach, in the sun.. traveling, exploring, and living: These were the best freakin' months of my life so far.

Even though I was broke like 2 or 3 times, even though I had really hard moments here and there, even though I didn't know what to do "next" most of my time: I would never wish to change any of it.

Having the luxury to travel, to make a bit of money online, and to just live life EVERY DAY on your own terms is absolutely priceless and I wish for everyone who wants the same thing: TO FIND A WAY AND MAKE IT HAPPEN

I know I will make it happen again. For me, having tasted the beautiful life (and by that I mean the simple life, since I don't need luxury of any sorts - well except a good bike and my technical devices) it is clear as the night sky full of stars: This is the only life I want to live right now.

Being a digital nomad means, of course, that there aren't necessarily less working hours in your day than there would be in a 9to5, but preferably and hopefully, it's that kind of work you enjoy, the kind you choose to do and the kind that fills your heart and that makes you want to jump out of the bed in the morning to get it done.

If you can find that, if you have a glimpse of what that might be for you. Go do that.

You are worth it! And even though it might seem quite impossible from afar and when you're stuck in a life that seems like being in a rat race - there is a way.

I hope I can show you a few steps how it is actually possible to start that new life. From selling your stuff to finding good places to travel (& work), to living on a low budget - I've been there.

I've done it before and I'm just about to book my flights again soon and get my ass into the tropical heat of Thailand.

Stay tuned if you want to know more.
In the meantime, enjoy whatever is good in your life and please let me know if you have any questions. I'm more than happy to help if I can.
