¿QUE ES EL DINERO ?

¿WHAT IS MONEY?

Hombre-pensando-en-dinero.jpg

Have you ever wondered what money is? Why is it that you can use it to pay for something you buy in the supermarket, why is it that the other person gives it value, why they receive it and accept it as payment What do you buy? Those same questions I asked myself on many occasions, but I did not have the answer, I only used it to buy things or pay for services, but I had never stopped to find out what Money really is.

The curiosity to know and be clear about what Money is arose when I learned about Cryptocurrencies, the need to understand why an encrypted file combined with a distributed database that stores the records of the transactions of that file came to be worth "NOTHING" in 2009, to be worth $ 20,000 on December 19, 2017.

My intention in this publication is not to delve into cryptocurrencies and why their value, I only name them because they were the inspiration that led me to awaken my curiosity about what money is in order to understand why cryptocurrencies have value, in Other publications I will go into other paradigms with which I intend, as I did, to lead my readers to draw their own conclusions about money, wealth, economic freedom, the world economic model and other elements that make us slaves of money.

After watching many videos on Youtube that talked about macroeconomics, economic theories, the history of money finally shone the light at the end of the dark tunnel of my ignorance, that mental blindness of something so important that it influences my life and the life of all of us who depend on Money (all of us who live in the midst of modern society, governed by the globalized capitalist economic model) and who had never stopped to understand it, we only use it and depend on the much desired MONEY.

Money Paradigm

DINERO EDITADO.jpg

Trueque

To understand what money is, we must recapitulate the history of the human being, go back in time to understand how the idea of Money was born, "AN EXCELLENT IDEA FOR THE MONOPOLIES THAT CONTROL IT".

Barter

TRUEQUE EDITADO.jpg

Barter, is the oldest Evidence of the first idea of Money, the first vestiges of the birth of civilized man, exchanged elements that were not given or obtained in the regions where one or the other lived. The items they exchanged had a value for each one of them, the most used medium of exchange that became almost a currency was salt, they received it as exchange for any other item, a container with sea salt could be the equivalent of a goat, a coat of animal skins, was possibly equivalent to three bundles of vegetables, etc. That acceptance that they gave to one element for another is one of the characteristics of Money that I will talk about in another publication, "that element must be accepted as a means of payment ".

The appearance of Gold and Silver as means of payment

ORO Y PLATA.jpg

When metals were discovered and they began to be used to create tools and utensils, gold and silver, due to their special characteristics, man classified them as "Precious metals", that is where other different ways of exchanging goods using these metals arise.

With the existence of gold and silver, it was easier to exchange goods, since these metals met other characteristics of current money that are part of its nature for this purpose, these metals are divisible, they can be divided into smaller portions according to the equivalent of what will be paid with a portion of gold or silver, it was easier to take them with you, just keep them in a backpack, something that would be very complicated if it were paid with salt, imagine carrying bundles of salt everywhere as a means of payment, now, if you left the salt in the rain you would no longer have your money.

The use of gold and silver coins and the curious birth of paper money and banks

MONEDAS EDITADO.jpg

From here the matter becomes interesting! If your eyes have not yet lit up with the spark of clarity regarding what money is, do not worry, at this same stage I was the same when you found out about the same thing, However, pay close attention because what you are going to read from now on will open your eyes.

As the human being was discovering, creating, organizing himself socially, the need for social control has also evolved, for the hierarchization of society, social classes are not the subject of modern civilization, it is a disease born with the same birth of human civilization. The ancient empires, the social classes, the hierarchies of power inherited by tradition and custom with a strong religious influence as a guarantee were those that took the reins of control of money and banks, but they did not create these two concepts (although I should call them Business) If not these, then who?

To answer the question at the end of the previous paragraph, first I must tell you that when man began to use gold and silver as means of payment for goods and services, structured social organizations already existed, based on authoritarian, dictatorial and monopoly monarchical governments. power, at the head of kings, monarchs and other more denominations. These absolute rulers, to control their governed and in recognition of their EGO, established mandatory for their territories, that those who will use gold and silver to buy goods and services had to do it with pieces of gold "Coins" that should have the image stamped of the monarch or ruler and his kingdom, this requirement was solved by blacksmiths, men skilled in working with metals, who minted the gold and silver that the inhabitants of that region brought them to convert them into coins.

Birth of the first idea of bank and paper money

BANCOS Y PAPEL MONEDA.jpg

The blacksmiths were the only ones who had the experience, skills and tools to transform a piece of gold or silver into coins, for this reason everyone came to them and they became very important in the society of the moment; A need arose that totally transformed that custom of using coins and took blacksmiths to another level. Those who used the gold and silver coins and had to carry them with them, were subjected to being stolen to take away their coins, they were assaulted while traveling from one region to another, these circumstances forced them to devise solutions so that their wealth was not at risk, It was thus that at some point the owners of these coins occurred to them to tell whoever had made them if "El Herrero", to keep them, because they trusted not only because I made them but because to do so they gave them the metal to be able to do it.

But the question was, if the blacksmith kept it for them, how would they use them to buy or exchange for goods or services, it was there that the blacksmith happened to give the owner of those coins a piece of paper where he himself wrote with his own hand the amount of coins that he had in the name of that person and he signed it, and what happened to that paper? Well, at the beginning it was only a receipt that guaranteed for the owner of the coins his property in front of the blacksmith's safeguard so that he could return the amount that the paper said. The question of how the owner of the coins could use if he did not carry them with him is not yet resolved, because very easy, I had already told you that blacksmiths were very popular because they made the coins, they generated trust for that reason, that meant that the paper that they gave to the owner of the coins that they were given to keep signed by him generated the same confidence, it was thus that the owners of the coins began to use the documents that the blacksmith gave them to buy and sell for the equivalent to the coins that seemed registered on that same paper, since there was a certainty that said coins were kept by the blacksmith and at any time they could go and claim them using that paper.

Thus, the blacksmith is the first version of a bank, because it is more than clear that he kept them but charged something for that protection "I do not know if as usurer as current banks", and the paper that he gave to the owner of Coins became the first paper money used.

The blacksmith gets rich

I hope that in these moments of reading, you are clearing your mind about what money is, if not, it does not matter, later your mind will shine with knowledge ...

Imagine if the papers that you sign accepted all over your country to buy houses, cars, food, well anything you want to buy, because that was what that blacksmith imagined when his mind passed from the goodness of protecting the coins of those who entrusted their capital to him, to wanting to create their own wealth, well it was, the blacksmith thought ... if people trust my receipts with my signature, why don't I make many receipts with different amounts of coins that I supposedly have saved and I get rich buying what I want. Said and done, that's how it was, the blacksmith began to make many receipts with different amounts of coins that he supposedly had saved and began to live the high life, he bought, wasted and from one moment to another he became a very rich man.

But since nothing lasts forever, the blacksmith's happiness ran out when people began to suspect his riches and the way in which he obtained them and it was thus that in a massive way they began to arrive at his house with the receipts signed by him. to claim the coins that he himself had declared in his own handwriting and were to the great surprise that there were many more declared coins and receipts circulating in the region than the existence of coins in his possession. You can already imagine what happened to Mr. Smith, at a time when there was, "here I will speak as one of my professions", there was no due process, a fair trial, much less a lawyer and human rights for the accused, the Gallows would be the best option.

And after this, imagine what happened next with the money story!

Thanks for reaching the end, wait for the continuation in the next publication
