Dream Desk Build

Starting from a measly AMD FX4300, 280x, 8gb ddr3, and assorted second hand gear I was able to build a gaming rig. But since the days of using a box fan to cool down my PC, I have invested a bit more into my setup........ Okay, Okay, I have far more invested into it than my car but who fucking cares? I work from home and I'd rather ride a bicycle, plus you pick up the BEST woman with a shitty car! ;)

Soylent
Hennesey COGNAC

For your information I have had that bottle of Hennessy since Christmas, so do not use that as an excuse to go locking yourself into a sheltered area with a fifth of Monarch Vodka. On a more serious note this space is very productive, and is an engineers playground, I have POE power for testing Wireless Bridges, IP cameras, etc along with plenty of ethernet ports to fuel a hoard of projects. I also have USB on the lip of the desk as well as into the Anker Power strip located under the desk. I did not post any pictures of my cable management as I would be socially abused for doing so. My cable management skills are effective and efficient, but not in the same league as the equipment that it serves.

Future Upgrades:

Like noted in the list of equipment, I need a new chair. The DX racer just is not cut out for the really hardcore CS nerd that I am. I am in the midst of getting a usb hub so plugging my Bluetooth dongles or flash drives in will be much easier. I also could use some sound dampening foam spread around my room, but I have "made do" with my closet full of clothes and filling in areas of dead space with couches an such. I have also been working on making my room/house smarter, so I may do a video on that stuff later when I get more time and purchase a few more items.

Tips for building your "Dream Setup"

Start small, and work your way into it. A lot of people see what I have built and think it is what they need, which is not always the case in hand. By purchasing the bare minimum it gives you time and a first person perspective on what is right for you . On the contrary, you should be thinking towards the future and not be afraid to spend the extra dollar for something that will last you a while and add time to your daily life (like an SSD). The bottom line is this my friends, DO YOUR RESEARCH!
