DIY question - Tullamore Dew Crock Bottle Lamp

So...need some advice. What is the best drillbit/way to drill into the Tullamore Dew Irish Crock Bottle? I have the kit to make the lamp just don't want to crack the mason(?) jar while drilling a hole in it. Otherwise I would have to buy a new one, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But would like to do it right the first time.
