I found out about steem through @steevc. We've known each other since 2014 when we were on another social network earning money. :)
Hi @jerrybanfield ! I found Steem because I follow Dollar Vigilante on YouTube. I've been watching his videos for about two years. He talked about how great it was, and I was naturally skeptical at first. He posted about how much money he made, and I thought it was a Ponzi scheme at first. It wasn't until I actually created an account that I realized how real it is. I've spread this through word of mouth to two real life friends and they have successfully made accounts and started posting! I'm curious as to why others found Steemit as well.
I found STEEM thanks to your YouTube video "Introducing Steem Basic Training! Day #1: What Next After Account Approval?".

First of, what a wonderful opportunity really Jerry, well mummy story on how I found steem was this, in 2016 may I was at a friend's place when he told me about a steem he said he had seen a site where you can blog and earn money, I told him that wasn't possible, we checked out STEEM online and there was little news about it, so we concluded it was just a facade in September 2017 a year later and, I went back to steemit and saw a that it was different, I had to cheek then asked people if they knew a crypto called STEEM, they said yes, that it was relatively new, so I knew that steemit wouldn't be a facade if the site was backed up steem and that was how the journey started after one year and 4 months that I should have started.

How I found Steem
My name is Paul "Marpe" Atume. My steemit handle is @marpemusic. I commented on a post yesterday explaining how I found Steemit (take note, I don't mean Steem), I'll like to share this with y'all:
On the 24th of February, the steem Ibadan meetup held. I was just about a month plus into active steeming, so I needed to connect with like-minded steemians around me, this date was a step not into just finding Steem, but honing my Steem.
We had mind-blowing presentations about Steemit enough to help newbies navigate their way through Steemit successfully. In the midst of all the various talks, a word by Toju Kaka a Nigerian Steem ambassador made a mark in me, he said: "Find your Steem and hone it". That statement got me thinking even after I left the event, I needed to know what my Steem really is. I took out time to meditate, then I discovered that my Steem is my content, my Steem is everything I put on the Steem blockchain, my Steem is my blog here on the blockchain. I found Steemit.com while watching a video on Youtube from
Wearechange.org
where they announced how Youtube has demonetized their political views videos and that Steemit.com could be a solution to it...
Then I created a Steemit.com account for myself and have tried to learn as much as I can for now..
