Itching, Yeast, Hot Spots & Bladder Infections, Oh my!
For anyone who has a dog suffering with hot spots, yeast infections and/or general itchiness...here is a remedy that works better than anything else out there for my girl, Dazy. Dazy is my rescue dog, who was likely a victim of over vaccination. She was given all of her shots - which she had likely already had. Shortly after she began developing horrible allergies, resulting in hot spots, chronic yeast infections, ear infections, bladder infections, gooey eyes and bladder stones. I spent a small fortune at the vet on medications and special diets trying to help her. She grew sicker and sicker. Three years ago she was in the early stages of Cushing's disease and was extremely obese. After getting pancreatitis from her prescription diet, I turned my back on conventional medicine for such these types fo health issues and did a lot of research on-line. Dazy is now on a raw diet and at 10 years old is now solid muscle. All of her problems were resolved with the dietary changes, except she still got yeasty skin (although not nearly as bad) and struggled with periodic urinary tract infections. This is where the new remedy comes into play...I use 1 to 2 drops of Oil of Oregano in a teaspoon of coconut oil and rub it into her skin. It immediately stops her itching and the next day the yeast appears to be gone. It turns out the same remedy taken orally can also be used to treat bladder infections - even those that are antibiotic resistant! Dazy recently had a high urine PH (indicating infection). I gave the Oil of Oregano in coconut oil to her 1 time a day for 2 days and tested her again - normal PH level! Note: Oil of Oregano is toxic to cats.
That's good to hear. Did the diet change have much effect? I had a similar problem and when I moved away from corn based food to mostly protien (like you did) a lot of the issues went away. So I was curious if it was mostly the diet that cleared things up for you or the oil rub.
Dogs are capable of understanding up to 250 words and gestures, can count up to five and can perform simple mathematical calculations. The average dog is as intelligent as a two-year-old child.
