Need support for my CHARLIE surgery

in #dog3 years ago

Hello! We are Pebbles & her mom Amanda and fundraising to cover two TPLO surgeries for Pebbles.

A few months ago I noticed that she was having trouble standing up after laying down for a long time. We went through a few (expensive) vet appointments without getting a real answer until we were recently referred to a specialist. They thought it might be a CCL tear when Pebbles literally could not walk one day. I knew already that was going to be an expensive fix, but then it got worse.

At the specialist on December 1, I unfortunately found out BOTH of her CCLs are torn. They can’t do both surgeries at the same time so I will fully have to pay twice for anesthesia, surgery, the metal implants, and time in the hospital. This ended up being estimated at $8,640.00 total. This total doesn’t include her 8 week follow up appointments, medicine, and any other visits she needs. She is still young (only about 6) so it’s really important to me to do everything I can so she has a full recovery and can run and play for the rest of her life.

I am looking at all my options for paying for the surgeries and would likely have to take out loans that I cannot afford since one surgery is more than I currently have in my savings. She does not have insurance. Raising the money for even the first surgery would be absolutely life changing! Her first surgery is already scheduled for January 18, and the second will be sometime in May or June once she recovers.

For a little background: I adopted Pebbles in 2018 with little knowledge about where she came from or how she got to the shelter. She needed someone to take a chance on her and I have been thankful I did for 3 years and counting! She’s the sweetest dog and wants nothing more than to kiss the face of every person she meets. She’s scared of water, trains, car rides, bridges, brooms, plastic bags and pillows. She spends most of her time in her bed next to me now… but normally she would spend her time running full speed around the yard, squirrel hunting or patrolling the street from our back deck. Even injured, she limps down the hallway to follow me to the bathroom because she won’t let me out of her sight for more than a minute. She sleeps with me every night (often under the covers with her head on a pillow like a human.)

I really appreciate you taking the

time to read/share her story & anything you’re able to donate. If you have met Pebbles, you know that she’s a literal little ray of sunshine and just wants to get back to jumping and running and kissing everyone that she can.

I shared a few of our favorite pictures over the years below. Hopefully, she’ll steal your heart like she stole mine.
