Cash, as in Johnny | Photo Album of A Well-Traveled Pup

in #dogsofsteemit6 years ago (edited)

Hey Steemit - Cash here, a miniature Australian Shepherd living with my pack in Seattle. I was born on a farm in rural Eastern Oregon, where I thought I’d spend my whole life as a pup.

But, it wasn’t meant to be.

For some reason or other, I was the “clearance” puppy in my litter and the very last one to get a home. I finally went home with a very nice lady, but she immediately put me on an airplane to New York - which was a very traumatic experience I might add! But, once I was off the plane I met my forever human, and I ended up living with my mom (@lilyraabe) in NYC for four years - before moving to the PNW! I guess you could say I’m a well-traveled pup.

I had no idea that dogs were so well represented here on steemit!

At least not until @brittandjosie (dog mom to gordon setters, Joe and Charlie) told my mum about #dogsofsteemit! When I found out that so many pups were here - I decided it would be fun to steal my mom’s account from time to time to share my adventures with all of you. So, throw me a bone and keep on reading.

The first thing you should know about me - I’m a ball dog.

I’ve never met a ball I didn’t like. Chew toys are great - and squeakers are amazing - but I tend to have too much fun too fast and destroy those toys within an hour. I like balls because they provide hours of fun. The best is when I can convince my humans to play “Hide and Seek” where one of them holds me down and covers my eyes (while I freak out and act like a wild dog!!!) and the other one hides the ball somewhere in the house. They try to be tricky, but I always know how to find the ball. I beat them at their own game every time.

One of the best parts of living in the PNW, are all the adventures I go on!

I’ve hiked mountains, scrambled up boulders, kayaked, roadtripped, and run wild all over this part of the world. I like to work as a scout - running ahead to survey the trail then looping back to make sure my humans are following. I can’t help myself, and usually try to herd them up the trail (even when I’m hiking on my leash...oops). Just look at this next picture of me and my Mom having a blast!

And a few more of my favorite adventure shots!

I’m also a big laze-about. I love sleeping (and I love sleeping even more in my humans bed with my head on the pillow).

Here’s a few of my laziest moments - sharing them here because I know we can all relate to the joy of utter comfort!

(I’m giving my mom this look because I was sleeping and she wanted me to go for a walk. In the rain.)

Belly rubs. :)

Okay, okay, enough silly pics - here’s my proper headshot.

My Mom likes this one of me a lot, she thinks I look super handsome, and hey, who am I to say no to a compliment? To be honest, I love being in front of the camera - when my Mom asks me to pose I’m more than happy to oblige!

And now, a pic of me with my mum.

They say that miniature Australian Shepherds are “velcro dogs” - and I sure do try to stick like velcro to this human. I wait for her at the door when she’s away, and follow her from room to room wherever she goes. I’m always the happiest to be doing whatever she is doing - whether we’re hiking a mountain or just Neflix and chilling.

And for today - that’s where I’ll leave you friends.

I’ll pop back by to share some of my travels with you - from a dog’s perspective. I also have fun photoshoots sometimes (my mom has a series of pictures of me in a cowboy hat that she says I ought to consider posting). Or - you know - maybe I’ll tell you more about the miniature Australian Shepherd breed and what we need to be healthy and happy!

EDIT: I’m also going to add this to the weekly #dogsofsteemit challenge by @supernovastaffy! Thanks for hosting!

6-month old Bassett?! So adorable...how old was he when you got him? That must be a handful (but fun!) to have around the house!

Aw, thanks so much @brittandjosie. My Mum would certainly never be able to get along without me. Wish I could meet your pack members, bet we’d have fun running up a mountain together. Also, thanks for the support/promotion, that’s awesome of you. See you around!

Oh wooow....it's kinda hard to read this as I still miss our doggie dog who passed several months ago, but I totally enjoyed reading this one :D soo cool that you've written it from Cash's perspective :D

I totally love that selfie of you two! :) I mean..all of them are amazing and studio-quality. But that one is special :) He has the nices eyes ever!

Nooo way that he understands the look for a ball concept! Soo cool...how long does it take him usually? Where do you hide it ?

I'm so sorry for your loss, I send you a hug. Dog's love is the purest.

Hey there! Thanks for reading and I’m really, truly, deeply sorry to hear of your loss.

Glad you enjoyed the post and thought the perspective of Cash was funny. I try hiding the ball in shoes, under boxes, behind curtains, in different rooms, inside of a coat pocket...I mean everywhere. He figures it out every time - I think it’s because he can smell it when he gets close to it and that helps him out lol.

A bundle of joy that dog seems to be giving you. My mate use to have a dog similar to yours, was so lovely.

Aussie’s are amazing - both large and small. But boy, do they have energy! Thanks for stopping by. :)

Oh, Cash is a handsome fellow, indeed! Very dapper and debonair! 💙

Aw, haha sooo debonair. ;) He definitely thinks so. Thanks for stopping by!

Awww, he is adorable and I just love his different color eyes 💚

Yea, I realized in retrospect I could have named him after David Bowie instead of Johnny Cash! Ah well, Cash he is. Thanks for stopping by! <3

Aaaaaaa I love him so much!!!

Hehe, he’s a cutie, and he knows it. ;) Thanks for stopping by!

What a beautiful baby! I love the dual colored eyes, they're so amazing. Keep being adorable, tiny one. And tell your humans to give you a hug for me ^^

Thank you so much! I get hugs on the reg--and will be sure to collect a few extra on your behalf. Thanks for stopping by!
