Bill, the Microsoft founder
Even in elementary school, Bill was brilliant in math and science. At 13 he moved to a private school. The family could afford it - father William was a wealthy lawyer, mother Mary teacher. At the Lakeside School, he met his long-time companion, Paul Allen, and started programming. With 14 Bill and Paul developed a system for the measurement of traffic flows, founded their first company Traf-O-Data and were quickly richer by 20,000 dollars. After the highschool Bill Gates went first to Harvard. There, too, he spent most of his time in the computer room. With Paul Allen, he developed the programming language Altair BASIC in 1974. Bill quickly realized that he did not want to waste his time in Harvard. He broke his studies and founded in April 1975 together with Paul Microsoft, then still Micro-Soft. Six years later, thanks to a collaboration with IBM, nothing stood in the way of the company's meteoric rise: the operating system MS-DOS came onto the market. In 1985 Microsoft released the first version of the operating system Windows, which quickly became a market leader with a share of 90 percent.
