Hello fellow steemians, we hope you are all well and enjoying the recent upwards movements of the crypto markets! We have had some debates on our discord channel as well as recent posts on the blockchain, so make sure you take a look around to stay up to date. The @dolphincouncil thrives on your ideas and contributions, so make sure you join the debate here on chain and on discord.

Current Debates

We had a recent motion put forward by @ecoinstant, where they expressed their concerns in regards to majority rule and the possible "tyranny" that could bring to the minority.

There has also been some debates in regards to whether a user should qualify as a Full Member only if they are holding all their 5,000+ Steem Power in one account or if those who hold Steem Power in multiple accounts should qualify as Full Members. We are currently drafting some changes to the constitution and this will be posted by this account and presented for a vote.

With 57 Full and Founding Members, any changes to the constitution will need a 75% vote with a minimum of a 75% turnout. Churning the numbers, this means we will need 33 votes for any changes to the constitution to pass.

Anyone who is good at pulling data from the blockchain to count votes and check the comments against the list of registered members would be very welcome to assist. (Somebody help me...!!)

New Members:

I would like to welcome our new members who #cosign[ed] our last post and are now registered members.

@enginewitty, @thermoplastic, @okean123, @indextrader24, @livvu, @glastar, @freewritehouse, @nainaztengra, @stayoutoftherz, @mariannewest, @yasu24, @jaki01, @softmetal, @ericet, @apshamilton, @felander, @honoru, @abrockman, @ecoinstant, @farizal

This now takes the total steem power held by all our members to over 1 million, yes that means if our members all act together, we have as much steem power as your average whale.

The exact figure is 1,014,632 steem power.

I can code something to count votes. Is there a set of code words?

Thanks @holger80, I think we can come up with a tag, in the same way we used #cosign to show people agreed with the post and wanted to show that via their comments.

Would you also be able to check each comment against registered members so we only count valid votes?

Yes, I can collect all #cosign comments from previous posts and extract the registered member from it.

The list is in this post, which might be easier.

An account should not be considered a dolphin if the SP is not reflected in the same wallet. It takes discipline to do that. Moreover, if that were the case, I could have multiple votes with the combination of other accounts. Just my 2 cents.

It is an interesting issue, but wouldn't it be the opposite? If we don't count cumulative accounts, we could each get a vote for every 5000 sp we have by splitting it to multiple accounts?

I don't claim to know the answer, but @josephsavage's claim was that he could (theoretically) instead join each sbi account over 5k as a member, thus having more votes (35k sp = 7 accounts/votes).

maybe it could be something like this:
1.) account has to have 5,000 SP permanently
2.) one account = one vote
3.) with multiple accounts over 5,000 SP only one account is eligible to vote
--> one vote per dolphin

5000 SPS or greater makes a Dolphin account. Anything less and they will be asking for picture IDs next.

As a Friend of the council, I would lean to the Own SP side of things. I fully intend to become a full member when I reach 5000 SP, I will have to wait, meanwhile I will watch, listen, and participate when and where I can.

I look forward to participating in the vote although I would need to consider all the angles at play here. I like the inclusive approach as it fosters community and the power of the collective as demonstrated by our 1m+ SP. I hope to see everyone engaged to get the quorom needed.
