Fairy Tail's Fairy Tactician

After I read @steemitwarrior hand drawing competition, lots of the anime characters keep on popping and popping. It was a bit hard since I like them all but, with thorough thinking, Fairy Tail's First Guild Master, The Fairy Tactician, Mavis Vermillion was chosen!

Fairy Tail is one of the most hype anime that I have seen and manga that I have read. It is an action-packed anime with a good sense of humor! If you have followed both Fairy Tail and Fairy Tail Zero, you'll see how the characters grow and develop.

The Tenroujima Arc was the part where the first guild master and the founder of Fairy Tail came into picture. Even if she's small like a grade schooler, her brain is so vast in such a way that she can analyze various techniques and strategies that are all bullseye! Thus, she is dubbed as The Fairy Tactician!

Then Fairy Tail Zero (Manga) was released where it shows the history of Fairy Tail and Zeref's and Mavis history as well. With that, Mavis became one of my favorite female characters on FT and to all anime that I've watch or manga that I've read.

Materials Used

1. Sketch pad
2. Mitsubishi 2H Graphite Pencil
3. Eraser
4. Faber Castell Watercolour Pencils

I usually don't do guidelines. I'm more of a rough-sketch-and-then-outline-it artist. But this time, I tried to use one. So, I use Mitsubishi 2H pencil to draw an oval shape for Mavis face and a vertical line at the center of the oval. I then draw horizontal lines for her eyes, lips and nose creating cross-sectionial lines on her face. And also, I made rectangular shape for her clothes.

Then, I start making a not so rough sketch for the details. I start with her face down to her body. Mavis' hair has big waves and I draw it last.

After completing the face, body and hair, I start inking her using 0.2 technical pen. But, if only I have a 0.05 technical pen, I would love to use it instead.

Also, I apologize for the pictures. I only have time to draw on nighttime, that's why the pictures are so dark and shadowy.

Then, the coloring part! Again, I don't color my drawing. This is my second time to draw Mavis with the same pose. I didn't do guidelines on it nor the coloring part. But, one of the rules is to color it so, I use my Faber Castell Watercolour pencils. I actually love these pencils than the classic one.

As mentioned beforehand, Mavis has big waves and I so love it by the way. With that, instead of coloring Mavis hair with Zine Yellow, I decided to use gold and gold ochre colors for a darker shade.

As I've said, I'm a freehand artist and with that I want to share with you my Mavis drawing without guidelines. I draw this five years ago. She looks cuter with no guidelines ahead.

Then, this one was when I practiced doing some guidelines. And it resulted to a mature looking Mavis, although, the cuteness is still there!

But still, I'm very much happy with the output. I just need to enhance my coloring skills more! Hehe.
